Palin pushes 'Convention of States' to throttle Obama

Sarah Palin, toying with a presidential bid, has joined a growing effort to choke off President Obamas plan to rule through executive order by calling a Convention of States to draw up amendments limiting his power.
This idea is really the last recourse of the citizens to rein in D.C. and restore our country to a Constitutionally limited federal government, Palin said in a new Facebook post endorsing the plan pushed by the Virginia-based group Citizens for Self Governance.
She is lending her efforts to urge legislators in Richmond to approve having Virginia join in the convention, already endorsed by over a dozen states.

Frankly, I’m surprised by your willful ignorance and refusal to educate yourself. You know full well there are plenty of sound arguments and discussions here on FR for the State Legislatures to assemble an Article V convention for the purpose of proposing amendments, and by calling it a Con Con you reveal yourself. I expected better of you.

I agree with the opinion that its a dangerous thing to open this can of worms.
Supporters think the Republicans from the states will not be the spineless bend-over and fold variety. Where do they think most of the US Congresscritters come from?
The Republicans are noted for wanting to compromise. Why does anyone think they would be different behind closed doors in a room with Liberal/Progressive Democrats. What current 'rights' will they trade away to get a few other ones -- that benefit their party and lobbyists?
==
I don't trust any of them. And my state has gone from almost all Democrats in their Congressional delegation to DC and the governship to Republicans. They all turned out to be moderates who go lock-step with the desires of the GOP elites.

Recall how the Pubbies (and most on this forum) KNEW the SC and Chief Justice Roberts would declare Obamacare illegal? How did that work out? Not only do we have Obamacare, but we have it from a contorted, twisted, rephrased interpretation of an obscure and confusing legal argument -- made by that same Chief Justice.

A liberated South would be free to actually control its borders.
Thanks for the laugh -- best one I have had this morning.

State nullification and the Convention of States. We must bypass the feds to recover our Constitution, our country and our freedom.

"Leftists can easily -ridiculously easily - hijack the convention " I don't see how. Tell me more.
"delete things like parts of the 1st Amendment, all of the Second, and re-tool the 4th and 8th to suit their needs."
They're doing this already! One more liberal on the SCOTUS and POOF! And what recourse will we have then?
The status quo is not an option!

"That is the absolute last strategy, and while it may be constitutional and legal and may be necessary, it is far from practical." You forgot to post your preferred plan. Shall we wait? For what?

"No need to rewrite the Constitution, just enforce it." I missed the part where you explain how we get all of that done.

If the leftist are so strong that they can hijack the whole constitution then that is where the country is and we are not risking anything. The status quo must be upset. This is the peaceful way. +1, As others have said, they are hijacking it right now anyway. The states, with "Republican" leadership, are the strongest they have been in decades. I have been undecided on this, but if not now, when?
I would prefer secession and Civil War but then I am a vindictive a$$hole.

Who do you think is going to appoint the representation?
The RNC. The GOPelites. They will threaten states to elect their selectees. States cannot even determine when they want their presidential primaries without approvial of the RNC. Do you think for 1 minute that the party elites won’t have influence over such an event as a Constitutional Convention?
It is pollyannaish to think otherwise.

Totally deluded. The Constitution is being amended on a regular basis by a few single minded gay lefty judges. Not to mention the regulatory agencies that write regulations that have the effect of law, all with out any legislation from congress. Even worse are EOs that seem to be as powerful as Constitutional amendments since it takes two thirds of congress to overturn one.
