Sarah Palin, toying with a presidential bid, has joined a growing effort to choke off President Obamas plan to rule through executive order by calling a Convention of States to draw up amendments limiting his power.
This idea is really the last recourse of the citizens to rein in D.C. and restore our country to a Constitutionally limited federal government, Palin said in a new Facebook post endorsing the plan pushed by the Virginia-based group Citizens for Self Governance.
She is lending her efforts to urge legislators in Richmond to approve having Virginia join in the convention, already endorsed by over a dozen states.

Any convention of states and the ratification of any subsequent amendments won’t happen until long after Obama has left office. I assume she realizes that?
I just LOVE that picture, KC!
Damned RIGHT Sarge!!! I cannot understand people who are this willfully stupid to think they can call a convention of the states and WIN!!
I’ve lost all respect for a bunch of people over this.
Totally deluded.
Ah, the convention of the states bypasses Congress. That’s the point of the exercise.
That’s where the title is wrong.
This is not about stopping Obama.
He’s just a symptom of an out of control, all too powerful centralized government
that needs to be neutered to 1788 levels, post-haste.
I would prefer secession and Civil War but then I am a vindictive a$$hole.
Not only here, but hopefully a lot of post-squatters out there in blog-land.
File Articles of Impeachment against Obama.
First order of business: Subpoena that so-called "Birth Certificate." Have it examined by a group of recognized forgery experts.
>>Three states have already passed legislation calling for a Convention of States. Now its Virginias turn!<<
Wow, thought more states had already passed legislation calling for a convention. Only 3 ?
Where is Texas on this? Anyone have an idea?
It may be a challenge for you to even find out who your state legislators are but do what you need to do and send them the below amendment proposal which you can bet they will like very much because it’s right up their alley, it’s natural to them and has no political repercussions for them.
Heres what they need to propose as an amendment to the Constitution:
________________________________________
To redress the balance of powers between the federal government and the States and to restore effective suffrage of State Legislatures to Congress, the following amendment is proposed:
AMENDMENT XXVIII
Section 1.
A Senator in Congress shall be subject to recall by their respective state legislature or by voter referendum in their respective state.
Section 2.
Upon a majority vote in two-thirds of state legislatures, federal statutes and federal court decisions shall be overridden.
Section 3.
Term limits for Senators in Congress shall be set by vote in their respective state legislatures but in no case shall be set less than twelve years.
________________________________________
SEND THE ABOVE DRAFT AMENDMENT PROPOSAL TO YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS, CALL THEM TO CONFIRM THEY RECEIVED IT, THEN GET THEIR FEEDBACK!
Now if Section 1 above is replaced with a repeal of the 17th Amendment, that may be even better but it may be a hard sale. Recalling US Senators gets the job done for state legislatures and it also requires interaction with the voters as they retain the right to vote for their US Senator.
With the above amendment, there would be no Obamacare, no same-sex marriage nonsense and so on. Most of the social issue tyranny would go away.
What substantially remains is a check on federal spending and tax reform. Both are adequately addressed by first passing HR 25 (Senate S-155) which a President Cruz has already pledged to do and by passing HJRes 16 or by similar repeal from the Convention of States.
Here’s the text of HR 25 and also in PDF:
https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/25/text
https://www.congress.gov/114/bills/hr25/BILLS-114hr25ih.pdf
and for HJRes 16:
There are plenty of proposed amendments presently in Congress but they go nowhere because they take power away from the federal government.
On the other hand State Legislatures can convene to do what Congress will not do on its own. And State Legislatures need approval from no one except themselves and the voters that support them.
The corruption is systemic, and those who would enforce (ag, alphabet agencies, etc..) are complicit or silent.
Just as we don't need new gun laws....enforce the ones we have. We also don't need a new constitution.. enforce the one we have.
I agree with the opinion that its a dangerous thing to open this can of worms. Corruption won't police corruption.
I read here about a year ago that there were already 35 or 36 states calling for a convention. What's the deal?
At this point, enough states have signed on to bring about a convention. What will get the ball rolling is for both houses of congress to agree to a resolution (that Obama cannot veto), that 35 states have agreed to a convention, so they are now authorizing and facilitating a convention.
Importantly, this *resolution* just requires a simple majority vote. Democrats cannot stop it. And just two men can make a vote happen, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner.
They don’t even have to do it themselves, just allow other senators and congressmen to do it.
And one curmudgeon to another, I say:
If conservatives cannot control the Senate (and I don't mean elect people, but control them); if conservatives cannot win or control the Presidency; if conservatives cannot control the Supreme Court;---all because of the "wascally elites"---they why in the world would anyone think they have a foolproof method to keep those same elites from controlling a convention of the states? And once it's enacted---with RINOS and/or liberals in power---say goodbye to every Constitutional right you ever had. Horrible idea.
A liberated South would be free to actually control it’s borders.
Agreed
They would have better luck dumping the GOP and forming a viable 3rd party. Why? Because the old GOP would shrivel up and dissolve or become a part of the Dem party. The GOP cannot be ‘saved’ from inside because the GOPElites have controlled it for decades. They even forced Bush on the ticket as Reagan’s VP, and that was 35 years ago.
And for those 35 years plus, we have heard the same old tired lies: vote for Republicans for lower taxes, smaller government, fewer regulations. How has that worked for ya?
Real change is NOT going to come from voting for the same and expecting a different result.
Alterations to the existing Constitution will take a decade or more. They will have no impact on Obama, because these are not quick-fixes to be implemented in a short time.
