... Among them will be Ted Cruz, who from the inception of his political career a dozen years ago has used his rhetorical wits to establish himself as a true conservative. The result is that the junior senator from Texas has become the darling of the GOP's right flank, many of whom are enthusiastic about the idea of electing him our next president. I'm not one of them. It works to a political speaker's favor to tell his audience what they want to hear. Cruz was a champion debater in college, so he knows how to score points with the judges. Certainly he feels comfortable in his conservative shoes. But of late, Ted Cruz has tweaked this comfort zone a few notches to a rather self-serving, holier-than-thou assumption that he is the only viable Republican presidential candidate who holds consistently to conservative beliefs.

Concern troll juzz a wee bit ?
You didn’t use to be a liberal; you still are as demonstrated by you nonsensical rant about Cruz.
You say you don’t fit molds but you do, it is obvious you fit the mold of a liberal troll.
Yep
But ‘he’s going to be around for a long time and earn his flying wings’ or whatever.
Divide and conquer trolls, all over one Walker speech that was less well-received than Cruz’.
FU Rush Limbaugh, again.
Re: my post 14.
I come from a military anti-communist background, my father fought against the communists in Korea, myself in the cold war, close relatives against the communists in Vietnam. I have watched this country being taken over step by step by the commie left. How many thousands of Americans have DIED fighting this red menace, only to see the very thing we laid our lives on the line against TAKING OVER THIS COUNTRY.
Coming from such an anti-communist background, my sentiments have been with Ted Cruz from the very start. Nobody running for POTUS has as strong anti-communist credentials as he. Like I said, just look at his father. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
The problem I see, is most on the right are looking at this election as “business as usual,” just another election. With the very survival of the nation at stake, I think not!
The time is now - maybe now or never - to vote for the one we can trust to be the most apt to FIGHT the red menace. Not someone why MAY be, but WILL be that man. That man is, beyond all doubt, Ted Cruz.
methinks you right....
bttt
You’re just sour because Cruz figured out the riddle of steel.
“I cant see how the latter approach helps advance the cause of conservatism.”
Well, we already know that voting for “moderates” doesn’t advance the cause, so we’ve got to try something else.
“The only possible conclusion...”
Is that, all these years after Obama was elected, some people still don’t understand what a “natural born citizen” actually is.
Don your flamesuit because you ARE liberal.
Exactly, SCOTUS is the lifetime position, so that is a dead end for a rising political star.
Plus, we kind of have to win the presidency again before we can begin to think about nominating anyone to SCOTUS.
I agree is Cruz is nothing more than a crass opportunist then the GOPE is the absolute way to go as they would sell their own mothers into slavery to win another election or to pick up an extra $20 from their masters.
I can go with Cruz or Walker but another establishment puke like Bush or The Rube is a non-starter I’m done voting for losers and the Republican party right now is the epitome of a loser when it comes to presidential elections and politics in general. They are statist and just want their turn collecting taxes from the peasants and lining their wallets. They could care less about me or the country just like their out in they open liberal counterparts in the Democrat party.
LOL!
So now we’re attacking a Conservative Senator from a Conservative State that is doing what he said he would do, Who not only votes Conservative but who introduces legislation that has forced rino Senators to cosponser because to not do so would imperil their false claims of Conservatism. Would that my senators, cochran and wicker would emulate Senator Cruz.
I will write-in Cruz if I have to.
And in my opinion, Cruz as VP would be a waste of his abilities. I’d rather he stay a senator.
Envy. Well, no. I would never be able to do what he’s done with his life. I’m a pretty simple guy, and I hate public speaking.
I don’t care if you have a degree - I want Scott Walker to win it all. He’s my guy. I just don’t respect law degrees. Sorry. Cruz would be more gooder (grammar!) in my eyes if he didn’t have a degree at all.
He also seems very “establishment” to me. “Knowing” you want to be president. Who “knows” they want to be president? It’s a dream some have as children, but life takes you in different directions. You also have to compromise...A LOT. You do that long enough and you get used to it.
An astronaut these days typically has to spend his/her whole life practicing to be an astronaut. They might choose that path their whole life. They may have to make personal compromises, but political compromises? Probably not. I’m not saying all politicians don’t compromise - but this guy is a Ken Doll. I don’t see losses. I don’t see real guts. I see an excel spreadsheet.
I liked Reagan - he left a cushy acting career to run off into politics. Pretty random divergence if you ask me. Bush Sr. was into Intelligence. That’s what he knew. He fought for his country. That’s a big plus for me. I hope our Senator Cotton gets a shot at the big seat one day.
I see guts in Scott Walker. The man has cahones. He doesn’t just talk - he acts and he fights. I’ve seen some fight in Cruz. So just remember that this is me thinking out loud. Best we have this discussion now rather than after Cruz is in office. Too late.
I like Huckabee, too, he’s a good man. I don’t know if he has the testicular fortitude for the fight, though.
Well, I hope I can change your mind about that over time. I don’t blame you in the least for thinking that.
On the other hand, I don’t really care what you think.
Fire and wind come from the sky, from the gods of the sky, but Crom is your god. Crom, and he lives in the earth. Once giants lived in the earth, Conan, and in the darkness of chaos, they fooled Crom, and they took from him the enigma of steel. Crom was angered, and the earth shook, and fire and wind struck down these giants, and they threw their bodies into the waters. But in their rage, the gods forgot the secret of steel and left it on the battlefield, and we who found it. We are just men, not gods, not giants, just men. And the secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn its riddle, Conan, you must learn its discipline, for no one, no one in this world can you trust, not men, not women, not beasts... This you can trust. [points to his sword]
