Republican Sen. Rand Paul is standing by his statement that most vaccinations should be "voluntary," telling CNBC that a parent's choice not to vaccinate a child is "an issue of freedom."
In an interview with the network Monday, Paul said that vaccines are "a good thing" but that parents "should have some input" into whether or not their children must get them.
And he gave credence to the idea - disputed by the majority of the scientific community - that vaccination can lead to mental disabilities.
"I have heard of many tragic cases of walking, talking normal children who wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines," he said.
Not one mention of mental disorders, as Paul claimed.

Several other severe problems have been reported after a child gets MMR vaccine, including:
Deafness
Long-term seizures, coma, or lowered consciousness
Permanent brain damage
These are so rare that it is hard to tell whether they are caused by the vaccine.
IOW they aren't certain. Possibly, maybe, who knows for certain? If you had a child who had an adverse reaction would you chance same vaccine with another child? It's a reasonable and serious question. It requires more thinking than a yes because CDC says so.
I’m over 60 and about the only vaccine I received was polio. Yes, we did get measles, mumps, etc. but my mother who was born in 1910 said you never want your child to have diphtheria, it is a miserable way to die. Nor would you want your child to have polio or tetanus.
Yes, some of these vaccines are for what are really not usually serious or life threatening diseases but some are.
It is not reasonable or serious to avoid possibly health-saving and life-saving treatments because of risks that are unproven, and even if proven affect below 1 in 1 million treatments. That's called hysteria.
Perhaps you need to read Senator Paul's statements again. He said he knows of "many tragic cases", which is quite unlikely to be true. One way to describe the "Severe Problems" on the CDC website would be "unproven". Even another term to describe them would be "statistically insignificant", especially considering the benefits of wiping out these diseases, which are unfortunately making a comeback thanks to people of influence like Senator Paul making unfounded and debunked claims.
Either way, he obviously has a problem with the truth. I'll be happy to be proven wrong once Senator Paul is able to verify his claims of "many tragic cases" of mental disorders that were proven to be a side affect of vaccination. I'll bet he can't name one.
Also, what I would do if I found my child on the losing end of less than 1 in 1 million odds would not be based on reason or rationality, nor is it a good template for public health policy.
If my child was killed by a falling meteorite while walking down the street, I might be cautious about my other child walking without a helmet, but that wouldn't make it a reasonable or serious reaction.
Injecting anything in your body or your child’s body is a CHOICE..... Screw the cooperative bullcrap so many here want to sell.. I chose vaccines for my child. Sorry I let them give her the Hepatitis shots at age 12... she has had joint pain and problems since receiving them and not other problems developing. I have close friends who have children otherwise healthy who are autistic since receiving vaccines... this is real and not imagined. The only problem we have in this country is open borders and a lack of screening for those who would bring these diseases into our sovereign nation.
My little sister was “adversely” affected by Govt administered smallpox vaccine in the late 1950’s. They administered to me and my middle sister without notification to our parents. They sent us home with a “note” saying we may have swelling at the injection site and nothing else. My little sister... a toddler at home... was not inoculated. She was in proximity with my sister and I and she became very ill and was subsequently diagnosed with smallpox. They buried this, but look it up. My baby sister is affected still today with the damage to her eyes and health. No one takes responsibility for her health challenges or ours. I never had problems with skin sensitivity and I could list so much more... until this vaccine. City of Riverside, Calif.... no responsibility.. Fed Govt... no responsibility ever.... ultimate FU from the “we know what you need and you have to take it” lobby.
And, you think that that unverifiable anecdote of one adverse reaction somehow counters smallpox eradication, a disease that killed 500 million people in the 20th century?
and you think that the vaccine is reliable? always? Tell that to someone who is adversely affected and how dare they administer vaccine to young kids without parental permission!!!!
The most egregious violation is government administering vaccine and without parental involvement and sending kids home.. thus exposing babies and toddlers to the effects of that vaccine! No apology no explanation no NOTHING!!!! SCREW the new world order types that want to take away the autonomy of our own SELVES! They let all of these Honduran children in and exposed our kids to this crap and now we have to give up our rights to what is injected into our bodies???

I don't support mandatory vaccination for any current vaccines, but your kids sure as hell won't be allowed in public schools, or near my kids.
But that's not what we're talking about here. The subject at hand is Senator Paul making false claims.
His claims are no more “false” than those of the powers that be that are pushing the immunizations. As far as war on smallpox... you should pray none of your family is visited with a vaccine imposed scourge such as this... shame on you.

Let me be very clear; I don't believe any of your claims or anecdotes, I don't think you are sane, and don't give anything you say any credence, as none of your statements are backed by facts or evidence.

If your kids are vaccinated they are not in risk from those that are not. So why are you so worried?
