Changes to the legal immigration system are an entirely different discussion, as I see it. If we got rid of chain immigration, we could conceivably increase the absolute numbers from India and China, which are the most populous countries. The legal immigration system needs tweaking, but it is not “broken.”

I hate the words “broken” and “fix” in regard to these problems. Too often they conflate immigration and illegal entry in the listener’s mind, if not intentionally in the first place. And they imply that something terrible has happened and so requires immediate action. The only thing broken is the fence.

Wants to eliminate the limit of immigrants from Mexico, India and China. Except for the citizenship part of the gang of 8 bill, wants the rest of it and easier immigration.

The underlying 2013 article is from the leftist Soros-financed Texas Tribune. Their objective is to harm Sen. Cruz among the Republican base. I would take everything they say with a grain of salt. Note that the article contains few quotes and much editorializing.

Once again Cruz's objective in solely opposing a pathway to citizenship was to expose the Democrat objective to increase their voter base, rather than assist Latinos.

This means nothing to me and probably holds as much water as “read my lips, no new taxes” from a former alleged “conservative president” when he was campaigning for the job in 1988.

Yes, I know you can’t turn a carrier around on a dime. That doesn’t mean you can’t turn a carrier.

So what’s the first step?

Eliminating welfare for illegals? That's what Milton Friedman said was the reason open immigration for people seeking jobs before 1914 worked well, and open immigration for people seeking welfare after 1914 is a disaster.

Eliminating welfare and leaving it to the private sector would have a wide range of benefits, of course—the rebirth of American civilization, for instance. It needs to be dismantled doorjamb by doorjamb, and we could start almost anywhere. Except: I would not start with stopping the rate of growth. That doesn't change welfare's character, which I think is essential to producing a change in people's assumptions about how to live.

Means nothing! He has to define what he will do now that Obama has already defined Amnesty! Millions have already crossed the border and are essentially citizens in some states. How will he counteract Obama’s actions and how will he handle it in the future? Will he stop the massive illegal integration which eventually leads to Amnesty?

Stop paying them to be here. We might not ever remove all of them, but at least we can control the situation.

We already require an I-9 form. Not much more to plug the info into a website and print a report for the file.

The answer is simple...follow the law.

1. DEPORT EVERY ILLEGAL captured.
2. Build a wall and control the border.
3. Stop ALL taxpayer-funded benefits to ILLEGALS.
4. Heavy fines to all companies who hire ILLEGALS.
5. No one allowed to apply for citizenship as an ILLEGAL living ILLEGALLY inside America.

No new “immigration reform” is required.
ILLEGALS will begin self-deporting when incentives removed.
Delete law that provides American citizenship to babies born in America to ILLEGALS.

I’m still a firm believer that if you make it illegal to hire them, rent to them, or give them food stamps and other benefits, they will deport themselves. When they try to rob and steal to get what they want, and are caught, deport them. Get rid of the anchor baby law. Secure the border regardless of the cost. It costs much more to give them amnesty. Even though the cost of catching and deporting is enormous, the cost of keeping them is more.

Because one by one is not going to ever get it done. One by one is not really what you are advocating. It is not what Republicans trip up all over themselves in some discussions.

The much better thing would be to secure the border and stop the benefits to non citizens - and watch millions of them leave on their own.

I really don’t think God cares who wins the stupid Super Bowl.

Luv you lots but God does care deeply....especially that the Patriots won. America’s Team. How lucky for the team to be called The Patriots....what an honor for them to hold. Have a great one!!!!

Then tell me how you intend to remove them, otherwise you are indeed for amnesty.

This is a specious argument. Unaided, the illegal came to the USA to scab work off of the American populace. I am assuming they can go home the same way, self deport.

Bob it’s not working. We know the truth. We will either vote for him or not but we know we are getting a amnesty squish with Walker if we do pull the Walker lever.

The broken immigration argument drive me crazy. It is a play on words, it is like saying a perfectly good engine is broken if it is not running. I guess technically it is broken in some sense of the word but just start the dang thing!

Your argument is stupid. Ridiculous. Declining employment isn't deputizing anything. You are obviously hung up on some weird Libertarian idea, not sure where you got it from.

So someone gets carded before buying alcohol are they(liquor license owner) deputies of the state too. LOL
