I’m not convinced this pipeline is a good thing at all....when you look at the particulars we get nothing for it except short term jobs..and most of those will be to contractors who move around the states anyway..with their own crews.
Plus if there’s a spill...we have to bay the millions to clean it up...and the oil’s being shipped abroad.
I’ve looked at the costs and the stats from both sides of the equation....it’s not panning out the way they make claims of by any means.
Convince me otherwise?
You are correct about number of permanent jobs. But immediate benefit is a kick in the azz for this weak main street economy in construction jobs. Long term, we get benefit of more and cheaper energy source which is always good for industrial competitive position over other countries, especially Europe, China, India, SE Asia who all must buy energy fuels from outside.
On the spill aspect, there are thousands of miles of pipelines all over the country already with excellent safety record. I think we hear more about train mishaps, which is the alternate method of oil transport.
