Many Tesla fans and electric-car drivers now know about the Model S P85D, Tesla's all-wheel-drive electric car that's arguably the fastest four-door sedan on the market.
What most of them likely don't know is just what the car's ultimate performance mode, called "Insane," actually feels like.
Now there's a video out from Drag Times that shows how astoundingly, jaw-dropping, amazingly, startlingly, incredibly insane the Insane mode actually is.
NOTE: Video is NSFW, has rude words (delivered in tones of shock, horror, awe, amazement, and joy).
With 1.3 million views in three days, the reactions to Drag Times CEO Brooks Weisblat's demonstration of standing-start acceleration pretty much speak for themselves (above).

If you’re rich, you can afford to own several cars.
Some people do collect cars.
Me either. I am happy as a lark in my 10 year old pickup. And my dog likes riding in it too.
“——no one drives that fast.” Maybe not in your convent/monkery but here in the Greart Wild West it’s Big Block hammer-down time more often than not. When it’s 130 miles between gas pumps Reliability and range are most important and speed is great also.
I was quoting someone else.
Anyone out their interested in sending the boy money for 4-5 years with a 0% return? /s
Maybe not any electric car, but with its 285 mile range, the car in the video can do it as long as you are willing to make a 40 minute pit stop. Who is going to drive for seven hours and not stop for a bite to eat? Tesla has Superchargers dotting the interstate (click the link and scroll down) that charge the car to 80% in 40 minutes. With one such stop you could drive over 500 miles in a day.
Furthermore, the supercharger stations are being upgraded from 120 kW to 135 kW so that people can get more juice in a shorter period of time.
The nearest station is 100 miles from my house.
Okay, but I still can’t afford a Tesla.
“You forgot to mention how much that would cost ...” —TexasGator
Oh yea, it's free! Also, I made a mistake, it is 80% in 40 minutes, not 30 minutes.
Yeah, I used to routinely pull 10.8s @ 135 or so in my 928. I think it was actually quicker 60-130 than 0-60. I'm pretty sure there were others that were faster. I saw a guy who drove his 928 to the track towing a trailer full of his race wheels...
Man, I want another. I like it lots better than modern muscle cars.
Why can’t they just build a electric motor-driven AWD car with a small turbo-4cyl, one big battery for starting the gas engine, and as an “electric spring” for the drive motors...and use a bunch of large capacitors for acceleration?
No battery pack...no charging, best of both worlds.
I think their using electric motors as a “transmission” as they do in hybrids, is brilliant.
“It will be interesting how long investors will keep pumping money into this dog. Musk has already admitted that Tesla won’t be turning the corner for a profit until after 2020.”
Obviously you are biased since you keep repeating that lie.

Tesla posted earnings that beat expectations on Wednesday but the electric car maker sharply lowered its fourth-quarter guidance to 30 to 35 cents a share on fewer-than-expected Model S deliveries for the year.
Analysts had expected fourth-quarter earnings guidance of about 75 cents a share.
Shares spiked more than 8 percent on the third-quarter results in after-hours trade.
The company posted third-quarter earnings per share of 2 cents a share, compared to 12 cents per share in the year-earlier period.
Well electricity is a lot cheaper than gasoline, so in a car like the Chevy Volt or Nissan Leaf, the price premium for the battery can pay for itself over time (although it will take longer now due to the drop in gas prices... but those are probably temporary).
With a Volt you also have that gas engine & tank built in so that it turns into a regular gas car after the battery is depleted.
Nothing new!
Some years back the Audi 5000s had 'uncontrollable acceleration'!
Many parking lots refused them for fear the driver would lose control!!
They were that fast!
For those short commutes that these toys are stated to be designed for, the roads won’t support such speeds or acceleration. So, who cares how fast 0-60 is when they won’t have the opportunity to do it?
The P85 models should handle that distance being fully charged in winter time Georgia. You would probably have to slow down to 55 or so on extremely cold days. You would want to wire up your garage with 240V 100 amp service to fully charge the battery in 4 hours. 120V 15 amp will take a day to charge. That just the way it goes. It is unlikely you would find yourself stranded in metro Georgia. There are plenty of third party charging stations around if a Tesla Supercharging station isn't available.
“The cost to recharge is $0.00! “
Time is money. Where is the accounting of the time it takes to recharge?
“No battery pack...no charging, best of both worlds.”
You don’t get something for nothing; if that gas engine isn’t putting out the torque the electric motor isn’t getting any either.
Short commutes? The car in the video has a 285 mile range.
