As occasional sparring partners over issues like white privilege and income inequality, Fox News anchors Bill OReilly and Megyn Kelly are accustomed to not always seeing matters the same way. So it was that the two stars of Roger Ailes network parted ways over a recent New York Times Magazine profile of Kelly. The largely glowing piece, by the magazines Jim Rutenberg, depicts Kelly as a serious, hard-charging journalist, unlike some people featured on the nations premiere conservative network.
During Monday nights OReilly Factor, the host dinged Rutenbergs profile as a puff piece, bemoaning that other Fox personalities dont receive such favorable treatment from the Gray Lady. Kelly, unsurprisingly, wasnt as down on the piece as her colleague.
Now, Miss Megyn was the subject of a New York Times puff piece yesterday, OReilly began.
Look, the New York Times, I cant remember them ever saying anything good about anybody on this channel, he continued.
Jealousy is an ugly emotion, Bill, Kelly who has started to beat OReilly in the crucial 25-54 age demographic interjected.
Reemphasizing that Kelly receives more favorable media treatment than others at Fox, OReilly speculated it was because she is charming.
Oh my God, its on camera this is awesome, Kelly said of OReillys compliment. Another puff piece, right now, is happening at this moment.
Kelly proceeded to insist that Rutenbergs profile was indeed fair and balanced, to coin a phrase.
To be sure, OReilly did have something of a point. Rutenbergs profile largely glided over some of the more unsavory aspects of Kellys journalism her hyping of the phony New Black Panther voter fraud conspiracy theory, her role in fomenting Benghazi hysteria, her disturbing pattern of mainstreaming some of the most vile and hateful voices in Americas public debate in the service of hailing Kelly as a different kind of Fox anchor.
Given Rutenbergs near-reverential description of a handful of fearless, truth-telling Megyn moments known elsewhere as journalism moments OReilly was well within his bounds in dubbing Rutenbergs profile a puff piece. Somehow, that doesnt make Kellys gentle-yet-piercing response to the blowhard any less delicious.

I see Megan Kelly on MSNBC within a year, unless she can’t get out of her contract.
Hope she takes Shep “Meteorologist” Smith with her.
I missed that. What did Mr. Drama Queen do this time?
I was disappointed in her blasting Sarah Palin's speech at the Freedom Forum. She was quoting Martin Luther King with the "The man can't ride you unless your back is bent."
Kelly used Byron York as a source for so-called Conservative disappointment with Palin.
But York was sourcing a guy named Clovis who ran against Jodi Ernst and got creamed. Of course Clovis would be hostile to Palin because she endorsed and supported Ernst.
So it proves that Kelly is willing to bad-mouth a Conservative without checking her sources!
Bad practice for a real Journalist, but status quo for a New York Times "Reporter."
O, beware, my lord, of jealousy;
It is the green-ey’d monster, which doth mock
The meat it feeds on.
Liberal definition of “vile” and “hateful” voices: conservatives who oppose the march towards socialism.
I have seen little of Megyn Kelly, and so won’t comment on her, but I do agree that Bill O’Blowhard is quite entitled to feel jealous of anyone who really has talent as a journalist.
Some FReepers are so stupid to allow the NY Slimes to divide us over those who are, at least, marginally on the right side of most issues.
But, because they are not “perfect”, we tear them asunder.
Stupidity on display!
What hysteria? Did I miss something?
Kelly is just another sweet face. The praise from the UnAmerican New York slimes is meant to cut her loose from conserbvative journalism, a thing Kelly seems to like.
The big bucks at MSNBC and elsewhere are being dangled in front of her , no doubt.Kelly seems quite happy to be bought off by the enemy.
The mouse that roared will soon likely be holding a 6 million dollar annual contract with one hand , while jacking the left with the other.Thats just how journalism works, and who knows, maybe Hillary needs a press secretary.
When I hear the word “phony” out of a liberals mouth I think lie.
Megan has her moments - sometimes not so good and other times really good. I like her most of the time; especially when she blushes up with emotion - then I’m with Laz....
A puff piece in the NYT means they want to bring her over to the Dark Side. Or, at the very least, blunt her effectiveness.
Preempted Hannity to report on the blizzard. You know, the one that never hit NYC, but shut it down.
I don’t watch Faux News and I’m proud to say I’ll never watched an entire BORe show, but I hear good things about Kelly. My response to those good things is “So what?”
Actually, it was the ideal confluence of catastrophes. The "Drama Queen" queen, dramatizing a non-drama drama. It was a Perfect Storm.
I do not think the views of M Kelly or BOR are worthy of intelligent analysis.
I like her because she LISTENS. 0’Reilly interrupts.
“I see Megan Kelly on MSNBC within a year.........”
Why would she leave the #1 network for MSNBC ? I’m sure FOX can afford to match any reasonable offer they make.
Overall I think she does a pretty good job.
