RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) For first lady Michelle Obama, just a few hours in Saudi Arabia were enough to illustrate the stark limitations under which Saudi women live.
Joining President Barack Obama for a condolence visit after the death of the King Abdullah, Mrs. Obama stepped off of Air Force One wearing long pants and a long, brightly colored jacket but no headscarf.

LOL!
It’s no accident she does things to insult people. She knows enough not to wear bright colored outfits to funerals and not to not to put her arm around the queen. She and Barry do it on purpose. Barry especially likes to ‘poke people in the eye’ and make them uncomfortable.
Gotta give the Mooch an ‘atta girl’ on this one.
Ya know, that’s what I was thinking as well.
She’s an American, and even though she despises it, she’s of the Western Culture - and we don’t require women to cover their heads.
Lump it, Muzzies.
(I’m sure her hubby wasn’t too happy about her dissin’ the Muzzies, though.)
It’s about time. Eff that motherf___ing king and his family. Any faux pas will do. Especially one those bastards can’t do anything about.
Congrats Moochie!
arabia would have been a great place for mooch to go completely ballistic...
imagine the resulting dilemma

if she’d really wanted to create a crisis she could have gone further ...

if the asian woman on the left hadnt been included I might have expected to see a soul train ...sign in the background.
a FUNDAMENTAL Flop!
Ok, so when those guys are here, do we make them take off their turbans, or whatever they are, and dress like us?? No we don’t. O can dress up all silly like he did in Indo and China and what not, but she ain’t having it.
I get your point. But it's different because dress isn't restricted in the US. Where it is...do we allow sunbathers to go nude because it's okay where they're from? etc
Early on, I often praised Michelle for returning the dress to fashion. It's much more common now for girls and woman to choose styles which make them look feminine without looking trampy. That's a good thing.
But there are some cultural rules. You don't dress to offend unless you're a rebellious kid or an attention grabbing media hog.
The problem isn't that Michelle didn't wear a veil, which is a choice that's within bounds. The problem is that it's a somber event, expressing condolences on the death of a king. It's no place to be wearing a clown suit.
I'm pretty disgusted that they're there at all, supporting a kingdom that beheads people, enables terrorists as long as their attacks are outside Saudi borders and has no human rights. Refusing to attend would be a very fine statement.
As far as dress, think back to Mariam Yehya, that freed Sudanese woman and the way she dressed to visit the Pope. Amazing that a woman just freed from a Somali jail had more class in her dress when visiting the Pope and other times in the public than our First Lady and her daughters often exhibit.
Good point
