New York Times op-ed columnist Charles M. Blow says hes fuming after his son was allegedly stopped by a Yale University police officer at gunpoint Saturday night because he apparently fit the description of a possible burglary suspect.
So, my son, a 3rd year chem major at Yale was just accosted at GUN POINT by a Yale policeman bc he fit the description of a suspect, Blow tweeted on Saturday. He was let go when they realized he was a college student and not a criminal.

Secretly, he is delighted, as this is grist for the mill. Now Blow has something to complain, while and bellow about all from the position of ‘righteous indignation!”.
We should have picked our own cotton.
This could have been avoided if he had a sign that said “Hands Up! I’m a Yalie”

I knew it had to be Blow when I saw the headline.
At least Gail Collins makes sense sometimes. She actually thinks the rape exception is nonsense.
...his son was allegedly stopped by a Yale University police officer at gunpoint Saturday night because he apparently fit the description of a possible burglary suspect. That's so unfair, we all know that cops wouldn't have to do this if they'd rely on the ESP we all know that they have.
Well, here’s the problem, the cop detained a suspect that fit the description of the suspect.
You just can’t do stuff like that.
So, Mr. Bowel, simply tell your son to STOP LOOKING LIKE A CRIMINAL.
No wait - that doesn't make any sense.
How about this... thin-skinned fathers of young black men should CONDEMN black violence and crime. Why? Because when blacks stop acting like the most criminal minority in the history of the country, people will STOP seeing them that way... and that includes how their sons are seen.
I've been lashing back pretty hard for a while now.
I get it. This tells me something about the skin tone of the student. A lightskinned person would not consider his sacred civil rights violated by a policeman stopping him.
It was `evil white guy’ Eli Whitney who invented the cotton gin, then the cotton practically picked itself.
Then black scientist G.W. Carver urged cotton farmers to plant peanuts & sweet potatoes, which his unpatented research turned into cashproducing products.
That was history, now back to the news: did Charles Blow’s son have an “I am Trayvon!” sticker on his car?
I know someone who’s son had this happen to him on a different campus. The kicker is that kid was in school training to be in law enforcement. Campus security was looking for a suspect and this kid looked close enough that they dragged him out of his car, threw him to the ground and pointed guns at him. Since he was a white kid then I guess you couldn’t call it racist.
I would not expect or want the cops to stop a person just because he is black as the perp was described any more than they should be stopping white guys just because the perp was described as white. They’ve got to have more than that. It doesn’t say here if they had it or not.
Maybe a 1st year chem major at Yale would commit a crime, but NEVER a 3rd year.
How dare the police point a gun ....

Pilot and copilot on board an airliner kept circling while circling in the air over the Everglades, want to guess, or maybe even know what happened next because of their focus on the one bad light?
How else would you stop someone you thought was an armed robber?
“fit the despcription” is a line cops use when they want to stop someone
I think they would prefer that no one should be picked up, since blacks are only stealing back what should have been rightfully theirs. You're supposed to just consider it your personal contribution to 'reparations'. Your 'white privilege provoked them to action to achieve 'justice'.
So white men, refill that wallet, so as to be ready for the next time you're called on to contribute.
White women, pull your pants back up, dry your tears, and consider yourself lucky you were selected (and not killed).
whoa...who knew ? a college student can’t be a criminal.
