Truth be told, when a new president takes office, he should declare that he will not leave the United States, except on matters so important, and his attendance so critical, that on his request a resolution is made by senate that he should attend.

This means no more globetrotting. I must be clear around the world that the Secretary of State is the authorized representative of the US, outside of the US, with other subordinates sent as needed.

I rarely give Barak Hussein Obama a pass but I see no reason for him to attend; a suitable high ranking official such as Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, or the US Ambassador to Poland is appropriate. European leaders are in much closer proximity, only an hour or two away by air. Further, many European nations feel great guilt where WWII era Jews are concerned ... Germany, of course ... but France, Checkoslovakia, Hungary, Greece, Italy, etc..
