Sheldon Silver’s arrest sends Albany into a state of panic (Democrats lighting candles alert!)

Albany is terrified and in disarray after Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s arrest, with lawmakers and insiders fearing he’ll turn on them to save himself.

“People are scratching their heads and saying, ‘What did I say the last time I spoke to Shelly?’ ” one veteran Albany lobbyist told The Post on Friday.

After Silver’s arrest Thursday, US Attorney Preet Bharara hinted at more to come, telling the public to “stay tuned.”

Now legislators are questioning why Silver’s closest Democratic colleagues, including Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Morelle, have pledged support for him instead of calling for his resignation.

“They want Shelly to see that [they aren’t] pulling down his ship. That’s a theory,” said Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R-New Hartford). “Why else would you be huddling around to get on TV? They seemed nervous standing around Morelle yesterday.”

It happened in Massachusetts in 2009, too. There must be something about liberal state politicians that the rest of us don't get.

2009: Ex-Speaker DiMasi, 3 others indicted on corruption charges (MA-D)

Former House Speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi and three Beacon Hill power brokers have been indicted on corruption charges in connection with a State House scandal involving lucrative software contracts, the U.S. attorney announced today.

[Snip]

DiMasi left office Jan. 27 under a cloud of suspicion in connection with a $13 million contract to Cognos, a software company represented by Lally, 48, and McDonough, 64. McDonough and Vitale, 64, each were paid hundreds of thousands by Lally after the state awarded the Cognos deal.

2011: DiMasi convicted of corruption in Cognos case(Former Mass. Speaker of House)

A jury in federal court in Boston today found former House speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi guilty of conspiring to exploit one of the most powerful offices in Massachusetts by helping a software company win multimillion-dollar state contracts in exchange for kickbacks.

DiMasi was convicted of seven of nine counts against him, including extortion and conspiracy to defraud citizens of his honest services. He faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

I’m guessing the Dem ATTY involved has an appreciation for America that many natives seem to have lost. He doesn’t seem to care who he goes after or who he get’s angry.

Now, that is funny.

Seriously now folks, why is the Fed DOJ, Dept of Justus, going after Democrats in the Democrat Rock Candy Mountain, the State of New York?

I'll float my theory. Silver is close to Hillary, former Senator from NY (what were they thinking?). We got Bill attached by the hip to pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. Has Obama gone full behind Elizabeth Warren (or Biden) as his chosen successor, so he has to take out Hillary as a candidate? That's been his pattern in elections, don't beat them, remove them.

You don't understand how it works in New York. Democrats in the State Assembly didn't vote how their districts wanted them to, they voted how Shelly Silver told them to vote. Many a local Democrat assemblyman sold his soul to Silver , and even occasionally faced grief in their home district for their votes on gun control and gay marriage due to Sheldon Silvers commands. All that was promised them for doing so, apparently is going up in smoke. The house of cards is collapsing. Hence, a state of panic.

“Shouldn’t only the corrupt politicians be the ones filling their adult diapers? Or did I miss something interesting?”

Well now, that would be virtually all of them now wouldn’t it! If we jailed all the corrupt folks in government, we’d have to rent all of Cuba and expand Gitmo in order to house them.

Ah, machine politics! Thanks for the info, looks like those who sold their votes weren’t smart enough to collect before dispensing their political favors, so to speak... I love it when a plan falls apart!

He is in his seventies. He’s looking at a life sentence unless he sings.
This could have some entertainment value.

So folks know what happened to DiMasi.
(Now this is what should happen to Silver along with confiscating all of his $6 million in kickbacks)

On June 15, 2011, DiMasi was convicted on seven of the nine charges. His co-defendant, lobbyist Richard McDonough, was also convicted of taking part in the conspiracy.

On September 9, 2011, DiMasi was sentenced to eight years in federal prison and ordered to pay a fine of $65,000. He was also sentenced to two years of supervised release after completing his sentence. McDonough received a seven-year sentence.

DiMasi is serving his sentence at the Federal Medical Center, Butner, a federal prison in North Carolina, and is scheduled for release in 2018.]

On August 30, 2012, the Massachusetts Retirement Board voted 5 to 0 to revoke DiMasi’s $60,142-a-year pension.

Yesterday a caller to a radio show said he expected Silver to be cleared solely because he is a Democrat.

I find it comforting to see the cynicism so widespread...

Does anyone think this is happening w/o the blessings of ubarqqa/holder/soros? Along with other stories in the news this week -— I’m wondering if the long knives aren’t coming out against the old-guard Zionists w/in the rat party.

My take:

A deal is struck.

Silver resigns.

Receives house arrest, probation, fine.

Starts his state pension.

6 months from now he quietly receives a very nice lobbying firm “no show” job.

Good. Sheldon, do the right thing and proceed to strip every asset and pension from all your “friends” in the assembly.

If you don’t your going up river hard.

-——not the least of whom would be Bill de Blasio himself.——

Hmmm... I can believe this is a flank attack to get Deblasio. He has already pissed off enough powerful democrats that they want to bring him down. Rather than a frontal attack against sand bags and barbed wire and machine guns, they are attacking from the rear, through Albany.

Why else would Obama’s man attack at all?
