The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to decide a case on the constitutionality of the new lethal injection drug combinations that some states are using for executions.
The court agreed to hear a challenge to Oklahomas choice of drugs even though on Jan. 15 the court declined to stay an execution there, using the same contested drugs.
In April, Oklahoma botched the execution of Clayton D. Lockett, who appeared to gasp and struggle after the drugs were administered before he finally died in the execution chamber of a heart attack.

The case the court agreed to hear on Friday, Glossip v. Gross, No. 14-7955, involves three inmates who said the states three-chemical protocol violated the Eighth Amendment because it posed a significant risk of terrible suffering.
Now, that's a perfect illustration of the convoluted mindset of a liberal. You see, this is how it works. The human body, nature in general, works in the way that the more chemicals used, the more pain is ameliorated resulting in less trauma, pain, NOT MORE.
But let me tell you something that is outrageous, unconscionable in what the Times omits about what the issues with executions are. I've read countless of articles where defense attorneys have argued that at least one of the chemicals, manufactured only in Europe, is designed specifically to cause the execution to be horribly agonizing as means for punishment not only to bring about death but to cause horrible agony as an additional punishment fo having killed someone. The defense attorneys claim, first a muscle relaxant is injected, putting the prisoner in a state of practical paralysis being unable to move, or speak. Breathing still is unhindered. Then once the prisoner becomes totally paralyzed, the attorneys claim the State then allows for an injection of a chemical that causes horrific pain. all of which is impossible to be conveyed because the prisoner s unable to speak or move, so no body movement can occur where otherwise the prisoner would be thrashing around in pain like a fish on a ship's landing. Many attorneys have claimed to sense extreme pain emanating from the prisoner during scant seconds until the pain injection takes hold. Then after a few moments an injection to stop the heart is administered.
It's implied in their complaint that three chemicals are inclined to cause more pain. But that only makes sense if any of the injections are indeed designed to cause agony as retribution for the crime. And they want all executions by injection stopped because of their contention is that the executions are deliberately made to be as painful as possible. But the Times doesn't mention it because the contention is ridiculous, practically impossible to prove.
SCOTUS.
Right!
Any type of hypoxia. Go to sleep.
That's it.
Simple, painless, no drugs, no big electric bill, no doctors needed. (except to sign the death certificate.)
***botched the execution of Clayton D. Lockett, ***
he died, so what is the gripe?
How ‘bout good ol’ fashioned HEMLOCK??
IIRC, numb from extremities in...buh-bye
Winchester makes some stuff that works when delivered properly. Remington is a good second source and there are some others. Also, Columbia makes some material (rope) that will do the trick.
I just don’t get this politically correct.... killing. You go in for a colonoscopy, the guy pushes the button on the digital IV and before you can ask how long it will take to knock you out cold...you’re OUT COLD. At this point they could cut off each limb, including your head, and you wouldn’t know the dif. Just give them that stuff and triple the dosage, then go get a spade to dig the hole. This argument is an oxymoron anyway. You’re going to KILL the person and for damned good reason. (Or it better be). What’s with this treat them humanely stuff about? I’m sure their victim wasn’t treated likewise.
Hours and hours ... words on top of words within words about words ... dictation, typing, drama, time ... lots and lots of time ..
will produce ..
Yup, yer right ... shoot 'em.
Quick ... painless ... and only cost a few bucks, plus the usual OT for guards or free if we use military
If I had to go ... shoot me.
All the anxiety leading up to the event is the same with whatever method you chose, so THAT's not a problem
If you MUST feel compassionate ... shoot me up with some good doojie and fire away
Go back to the old reliable drug, hot lead.
The constitution doesw not guarantee a painless executition.
Then the left disrupted (by either threatening, taxing, or getting in bed with the makers) the ingredients used for lethal injections, which resulted in shortages and the states using more costly (and less effective w/gruesome side effects ingredients) for lethal injections.
So now the left got what it wants. Parading around a "botched" execution and their liberal front groups demanding "reform." They now can proceed with lethal injection being classified as "cruel and unusual" punishment, so then that can get banned too and then they can use their liberal front groups to pressure states that currently have the death penalty to abolish it.
And that, my friends, is an example of how and why the Left have always been successful at getting their agenda implemented over the past 50 years.
Every body who has ever been born died (or will in the next century).
Let’s face it... It’s not going to be your best day.
They can do this, but they can’t be bothered to deal with the deliberate destruction of natural marriage until they are confident the public will not rebel against their edict.
There are people other than political ‘liberals’ who are entirely against the death penalty.
I guess this is where I will part with a lot of Freepers, but I am against the death penalty.
For one thing, you can’t take it back, if you’ve made a mistake, or if some corruption of evidence was involved.(We’ve seen a number of people exonerated by DNA evidence in recent years.)
For another, a wealthy person facing a charge that might result in the death penalty, has a much better chance than a poor person, so it is not equitable.
(I know a very good black man, with a very common African American name, who was arrested for something of which he was innocent, and held in jail for a month. He was assigned a public defender, because he had no money to pay a lawyer. The lawyer did very little for him, and my friend languished there, losing work time and pay until finally they came and said, You are released. They finally figured out that they had the wrong guy. What might have happened to him, if he had been jailed for murder, when someone with the same name was the real suspect? I realize that this is only anecdotal, but we know that these things happen!)
Many years ago, I read a book that was written by a doctor who had been a medical expert/coroner at Sing Sing for a long time. I wish I could remember the title, but this man proved to me that the death penalty is NOT a deterrent. I will try to find the title of that book.
As a Christian, I also can’t buy the “eye for an eye” notion; it seems to me that one of the revolutionary aspects of Christianity over preceding history, was leaving “eye for an eye” behind. And, I believe that redemption is *possible* for anyone, even if not probable. God is the only one who knows what’s possible for any of us. A human being can redeem himself and live a spiritually productive life, even if in prison for all of his days. If he can’t - well, at least he’s in prison for all of his days.)
Sorry if this offends; but I have to stick up for what I believe. I admit that it’s very difficult to maintain this belief, when faced with mass murderers, vicious psychopaths, out-and-out traitors, etc. But my intellect, and my faith, cause me to believe that the death penalty makes no real sense, and is barbarous.

As a total unwashed philistine, I’d like to ask a simple question.
What’s so complicated about offing some guilty perp that it requires all this angst and hankie-twisting over the drug with which to do it?
As a farm boy I’ve seen bovines, equines and canines “put to sleep” by injection, with no fuss and no apparent discomfort shown by the animal being put down.
The vet slips the needle into the vein, pushes the plunger, and in a few seconds it’s “good night, Irene”.
Only government bureaucrats could screw up something so simple!
First they want to end capital punishment, then liberals want to do way with life with parole etc (at least for violent offenses). They will not stop.
While your comments are reasonable and legitimate, they address a whole other perspective that departs from the issues at hand. Yes, the poor, mostly black end up with a far less equitable legal system than those that are better off, but you will find those who are for capital punishment and those who are against still will nevertheless end up split along the liberal-conservative point of view. Also, in these cases, those that were executed via injection never denied their guilt in the crimes.
Thank you for your reasoned response.
If you want to kill them, consider Tucker39’s post. I also see animals humanely killed every day; but I can’t think of a human being, created in the image of God, as simply an ‘animal’.
I guess you could say that I am ‘pro-Life’; and this was a good opportunity to express a view.
