On a usually happy and even triumphant day, pro-life leaders found themselves angry at a vote in the U.S. House that never happened.
Much of the talk today at the annual March for Life, that likely brought close to 500,000 mostly young people to Washington DC, was about how House leaders canned a bill that would have banned abortion after the 20th week of gestation, the point at which an unborn child is said to feel pain.
Much of the anger was directed at Republican Congresswoman Renee Ellmers of North Carolina, who, as reported by Breitbart News, organized a group of female House members to block the vote on a bill that leadership had promised to pro-lifers.
There was talk backstage at the rally preceding the March for Life that Ellmers needs to be defeated in her next primary. There was also talk of open electoral warfare if the bill is not brought up for a vote and soon.
Marjorie Danenfelser is president of the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that spent $13 million to elect pro-life legislators in the last cycle. When asked by Breitbart News if Ellmers would get a primary challenge, Danenfelser said, That tidal wave has already begun. Before you came on the air, the same day that she began to discus ditching this bill to the main stream media, creating a firestorm on an issue that this was never about, that this was about rape. Thats going to happen and she deserves it.

Why isn't the leadership being as tough on her as they are on constitutional conservatives? And why didn't they bring up the vote so any of those women who said in the back rooms they were pro-murder of the unborn had to stand up and be counted?
I'm even more disgusted than I was.
She’s kissed the Boehner’s ring, which is why she won’t be punished. She’s also a stooge for the pro-amnesty chamber of commerce. I hope someone primaries her and gets her fired!
I am disgusted as well, with an overwhelming majority in House and a clear majority of Americans that favor pro-life.
It is exactly what happened in the State of Texas with Wendy.
Like Wendy, that women is now a celebrity among the libs, and will be featured with speaking engagements at lib wine and cheese gatherings.
She seems quite pro-life, if you believe what she has said. Up until recently, she has sponsored and co-sponsored several pro-life bills in the past, so it’s rather strange to see her turn against something she has strongly supported in the past. Seems that her values might have an expiration date.

She is from NC, barely a purple let alone a blue state. Her stance isn’t a political one to keep her constituents happy. It’s what she feels in her evil heart. 20 weeks to come to a decision regardless of how the impegnation occurred is unreasonable?
Yeah, I would truly like to hear an explanation from her own mouth.
Twenty weeks is already much too long to resolve any of those issues.
“Seems that her values might have an expiration date.”
Did Dimocrats attach any objectionable riders to the bill?
Renee Elmers has grown in office. She’s risen beyond the bigotry, greed and phony patriotism of the Tea Party extremists. [inevitable Luegenpresse spin]
I am in her district. Big disappointment.
Dump Ellmers!
I get excited looking at the happy healthy beautiful faces of the Pro-Life crowd, especially when compared to the one headed by the likes of Barbara Boxer and company.
What do you do when not even voting reforms the system? :(
“What do you do when not even voting reforms the system? :(”
can you explain where you are going with this comment?
I live in another district in NC but made GOTV calls for her. I am beyond disappointed, I am disgusted.
The system is supposed to be reformable.
What do you do when it’s not?
Do the great, wise, holier than thou know-it-alls who populate these political webboards like this one have any answers?
become a cynic and a defeatist and join the damned.
