“We’re up almost two feet from there. Last fall, we had an unprecedented event where lake levels continued to rise through the fall. It has not rebounded this quickly I think in any recorded history that we have,” said Chris Schropp of the U.S Army Corps of Engineers."

Not to sound flippant, but probably the sky. At least in this part of the Midwest, about four hours by interstate highway east of Lake Michigan, in contrast to the west we had a very wet last Spring, Summer, and Autumn. In terms of geologic history post glacial uplift continues and the Great Lakes have over the last ten thousand years become gradually smaller. So this rise in lake levels should be a temporary aberration.

How can the ice age be coming back when we have had the hottest years on record in the last decade? How can this be when the most powerful man in the world, says so in his State of the Union speech? I’m a bit surprised by how the graph of post 1 is being interpreted. With respect to the -3 minimum shown on the graph between 2012 and 2013, wouldn’t there have to be at least a +3 or more recorded maximum before 2009 to justify the “long term average?”

For many years, I lived within two blocks of Lake MIchigan. Love that lake. Doubt it’s going to flood out any great areas
