Americas national character will have to be changed if progressives are going to implement their agenda. So, changing social norms is the progressive agenda. To understand how far this has advanced, and how difficult it will be to reverse the inculcation of dependency, consider the data Nicholas Eberstadt deploys in National Affairs quarterly:
Americas welfare state transfers more than 14 percent of gross domestic product to recipients, with more than a third of Americans taking need-based payments. In our wealthy society, the government officially treats an unprecedented portion of the population as needy.
Transfers of benefits to individuals through social welfare programs have increased from less than 1 federal dollar in 4 (24 percent) in 1963 to almost 3 out of 5 (59 percent) in 2013. In that half-century, entitlement payments were, Eberstadt says, Americas fastest growing source of personal income, growing twice as fast as all other real per capita personal income. It is probable that this year a majority of Americans will seek and receive payments.
This is not primarily because of Social Security and Medicare transfers to an aging population. Rather, the growth is overwhelmingly in means-tested entitlements. . .

Who is John Galt.
Good graphics Travis, they’ll go mad if and when that happens!
Think of some good questions to get her thinking. Here are a few to start:
Does she think it’s fair that middle class people have to work not only to support their own families but also to support the families of others who won’t work?
Does she think that people who are able bodied but won’t work set a good example for their children?
Does she think self respect and dignity come from accepting handouts from others or that it comes from achieving success from the sweat of your own brow?
Does she think it’s acceptable that a person who won’t work receives government benefits that exceed what a full time average wage earner brings home?
Socialism is based on a false concept of human nature, which denies self interested behavior. That is why socialist states like the USSR, China, Cuba and the like ended up as totalitarian states.
The "people's revolution" has to be forced upon the masses at the point of a gun. Which is, of course, why liberals hate having citizens own guns. Socialists want to ensure only the government has guns. Which, of course, explains the body counts in the USSR, China and Cuba.
You are right to weep too.
It would be easier for Europe to expelled the Muslims than for America to overcome the forces of evil that are destroying her.
Curiously, George Will sees no problem with amnesty for 11-20 million illegals who will go straight onto the welfare rolls.
“...sees no problem with amnesty for 11-20 million illegals who will go straight onto the welfare rolls.”
They’re not illegals. They’re an occupying force that needs to be clothed, fed and cared for so that they can take part in the subversion of the vote.
IMHO
That’s my fear. Two weeks without food deliveries and our cities may be in flames.
Those are good though provoking questions,
but like most sheeperal, she doesn’t want to be “thought-provoked”.
Her advocacy is her righteousness,
and pointing out failures in what she advocates for
is a direct, personal attack on that righteousness.
Sowell's book "The Vision of the Anointed" is also great and also Olasky's "The Tragedy of American Compassion".
Those are great, and I’ve read most of them,
but, like I said,
most sheeperal DON’T WANT TO KNOW
that the policies they advocate actually hurt people.
You’re right and it may start much sooner than two weeks in “certain groups”. Ferguson, for example. The minute they start hitting a number of stores, and getting EBT failures, they will go crazy!
Yes, and by two weeks it will be universal, as the early looters will inspire the future looters to get there first or miss out. It accelerates in one direction.
Beyond frightening - especially for my kids. Take care!
