merican Sniper has a problem. It's a movie about a black-and-white distinction between good and evil, but it is set almost entirely in the Iraq War, which can only be honestly portrayed in shades of gray.
Faced with a choice between altering its narrative to account for that gray versus altering the facts of history, the film chose the latter. It adopted an "honesty shmonesty" approach to the war: in its retelling, Iraq was a fight of Good Americans against Bad Terrorists, led by Chris Kyle, the Good-est American of them all.

I think her real objection is that the movie was successful.
If American Sniper had failed every single commentator from her side would be using it as a teaching point against the war.
She can’t sell her beliefs about Iraq, especially to those who served over there.
Any group of people who will wrap ten and 15 year old girls in explosives and send them into crowds, do not deserve one second of understanding from me. A mother who gives her little boy a grenade to run into a group of soldiers deserves exactly what she gets.

I read her article. It is pretty clear that she saw the movie. But there is a difference between seeing something that confirms your biases and seeing something that makes you think and questions your preconceptions.
I saved it somewhere too.
But it is curious that it has been scrubbed.

I’m not gonna go into the myriad reasons that we invaded Iraq. I will say that with Saddam deposed, what kind of government would you prefer to see in Iraq. Monarchy? Communist? Fascist? What?

In terms of politics the world is a pretty simple place. You've got folks who want to guide their own lives and take responsibility for same, who grant others the same, whose focus is self.
Then you've got others whose main focus is others, Who seek to enslave others, whose sense of entitlement blinds them to the evil they create.
Everything else is a matter of degree.
In that this wench and I think alike...my focus is what I think about the movie.

I don’t know the specific make/model of scope he’s using,but the high end Leupold scopes are 1500-2000 and up.I find that a 600 dollar Leatherwood gets the job done just fine.
