In the wake of the news that the Patriots used underinflated footballs in the AFC Championship, several stories have emerged of other instances of footballs being modified or suspected of being altered during NFL games.
According to CBS Sports, some members of the Baltimore Ravens believe kicking balls used in their playoff game against the Patriots in the divisional round may have been underinflated. No players or Ravens personnel are identified in the CBS report, which also says the NFL did not receive a complaint from the Ravens regarding the footballs in that game.
...
Reason: $$$
Most likely, they be signing and selling the balls.
Each team gets a share of balls for bucks.
There are lots of other professional sports to follow with fewer integrity problems than the NFL. Wrestling and Roller Derby for instance.
The Kick balls are held by the officials.......................
The ONE ball that is submitted for inspection before the game......................
This story by the Ravens, unfortunately, is fried bologna sandwich, as I used to say.
Mighty tasty!......................
Well they already whined about trick plays, might as well go for this too.
Damn if he was not right.
Immediately after the call, the other team removed half a dozen sticks.
You’re correct.
Limbaugh said it was first noticed when (Colt player) D’Qwell Jackson intercepted a Brady pass. Supposedly he told the coaches the ball felt soft.
It’s because each QB has slight preferences. Some like them more scuffed, some like them newer, some like more prominent threads, some less, some lower PSI some higher. Peyton Manning is apparently the one that pushed to allow “customization” within certain boundaries. But those boundaries are good enough for some players. Aaron Rodgers is on record for wanting higher PSI and submitting them to the refs that way hoping they don’t catch it. 3 years ago Brady went on record saying he liked the balls that had been spiked by Gronk best because he spikes them so hard they lose a bit of air. It’ll be interesting to see how the league reacts to all this, they’ll either keep balls in the hands of league officials when not on the field, end the era of customization, or expand the parameters. Maybe 2 out of 3.
The kick balls shouldn’t be in dispute for exactly that reason.
Hey, are you a UW fan (badger and all)?
EVERYONE does it ALL THE TIME! What planet do YOU live on?
But there was a stink a few years ago about the Rockies making theirs more humid.

Ball manipulation has a long tradition:

One can argue that the game is violated because of instant replay and game changing penalties that benefit only the offense, like a spot of foul pass interference that gives the offense more than 15 yards and a first down.
FU
Oh, you mean like the Seahawk's arrogant a__hole players? What should the league fine them for their unsportsmanlike bullsh*^?
Several questions or thoughts:
1. Why dont team managers check the balls they will be using before the game?? In my coaching days including a stint as an asst.college coach, the managers checked everything.
2. If the balls were inflated in a warm room and then taken out into a cold stadium they would naturally loose some pressure,
3. What effect does a slightly deflated ball (which is the case)have on the game??
Nope. Never been to Wisconsin.
The ‘Badger’ name was given to me by the NSA.........................no joke..................
Cool name story.
Had family that went to UW, so I asked.
You’re comparing apples and oranges. Most penalties are part of the game on an even playing field so you simply have to accept the calls made by refs. Cheating by intentionally deflating footballs to gain an unfair advantage is not part of the game. Who wants to watch a game for a pro sports league when they know one team doesn’t have to follow the rules?
