White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest reacted to the news that House Speaker John Boehner had invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak to a joint session of Congress, calling it a departure from protocol.
The typical protocol would suggest that the leader of a country would contact the leader of another country when he is traveling there and thats certainly is how President Obamas trips are planned when we travel overseas, he said. This particular event seems to be a departure from that protocol.
Netanyahus visit was announced earlier this morning after Obamas State of the Union address. Earnest said that the White House found out about the trip shortly before Boehners announcement.
Earnest said that the White House hadnt heard directly from the Israelis at all and didnt know if the Prime Minster would be visiting the White House during his trip.
Well need to hear from them about what their plans are and what he plans to say in his remarks to Congress before we have a decision to make about any meeting, Earnest explained, pointing out that the White House would reserve judgement about the trip until they had conversations with Israeli officials.

“Departure from Protocol”? Maybe not. The Prime Minister of Israel is the Head of Government and not the Head of State.
Cotton 1706, I wouldn’t put anything past our very thin skinned pretend president......As we have all learned, it’s all about him. I can’t wait for the day when we won’t have to see Obama on the TV day in and day out.
Hope he is coming to say that Israel will go it alone. If he is coming to get us into war, I hope the audience hasn’t received enough campaign funds to make that happen. Another war is existential for us. China and Russia are waiting in the wings and we have to borrow from China for expenses. It has taken us some 10 years to fight a bunch of enemies who depend on improvising weapons and suicide vests. They ain’t Russia or China. Say it ain’t so Bibi.
Hopefully this is only the beginning in undermining the usurper-in-chief.
Perhaps he is finally learning what is really going on in America.
Call it a dream....
He should have invited him to the State of the Union also!
Imagine what a distraction that would have been.
Early elections for the twentieth Knesset will be held in Israel on 17 March 2015. Obama has been trying to undermine Bibi and Likud. I love this!
Nowhere, especially when regime flunkies have smeared the foreign dignitary with unwarranted insults. Obama is getting a small object lesson in separation of powers, and Boehner gets credit for doing something right.
Someone should have asked Josh the Liar for Emperor Nero
what protocol it was that Nero talked Prime Minister David Cameron into Lobbying Senate Members to halt any Sanction Legislation against Iran just a week or two ago.
Excellent. But dont bet the ranch that John Boy has mended his ways. He just wanted to shove something large up BOs rear and Bibi drew the short straw!

Prudent warning.
Barack the Irrelevant.
Wow, just wow. Political speech is one thing but public international political speech is something totally different.
I can not believe this is what was said out in the open.
Oh yeah!
Bibi as PM is Head of Government in Israel, thus considered the ‘leader’. Rivlin as President is merely Head of State, ceremonial figurehead.
The position of POTUS is both Head of State and Head of Government, so, for better of worse, leader of the US.
