A Lithia man has been charged after he tackled another man Tuesday who had a handgun in a holster -- and a permit to carry -- at a Walmart.
Foster had seen Daniels getting out of his vehicle in the lot with handgun, under his coat and in a holster. Foster followed him into the store and then attacked the Daniels, the sheriff's office said.

Get off of your horse!
I CCW and I know what “Concealed” means.
Open carry works well where it is typical, but if you’re trying to be the Lone Ranger, you better expect some unwanted attention.
Sounds to me like you would like to charge people with a crime for openly carrying (for their own protection of course)
Did they mean, “A man who should be on lithium...?”
Sounds to me like you like to jump to conclusions.
Are you a troublemaker when you’re not behind a keyboard?
“Foster, 43, was taken into custody and charged with battery.”
So, his battery got charged.
So, Foster put Daniels in a chokehold and on the ground yet Daniels was able to still yell that he had a permit. Foster needs to be sent to NY to teach their cops how to do this right! (sarc/off)
IMHO - and keeping in mind that I don't have a CCW permit - it strikes me that open carry would be better than concealed, most of the time.
My thinking (bluntly) is that bad guys see the gun, and go elsewhere. Not unlike the cop sitting in his car by the road. 7 times in 10, he'll just be sitting there doing paperwork, but everyone still slows down, just in case.
I don't know myself, but I'm sure that there are many other wiser FReepers who can weigh on this.
Just like my wife. She open carries everywhere.
I usually use a holster that tucks in my pants, still open, but, less obvious.
To each his own.
Perfect example of, “Stupid is as stupid does.”
“I CAN’T SHOOT!”......................
I wonder, if he had been shot would he sue Wal-Mart?.....................
“Shopper Tackles Man With Gun At Walmart In Florida (concealed carry)”
Had the gun been properly concealed this wouldn’t have happened.
Yes, Florida is a concealed only state, but recently (in the last year or two) the legislature passed that inadvertent display of a concealed weapon, which sounds like the situation in this story, is not prosecutable. Still, this guy was lucky.

Attitude is no substitute for information.
Momentary or incidental exposure while carrying with a CCW permit is not a crime in Florida.
Right-o! I actually have to give credit to the guy who tackled him. How many folks would do that? Conceal your weapon or suffer the consequences. Especially when the media is making sure to convince folks that anyone with a gun is a dangerous nut.
That’s interesting that you say that—because that would be my gut reaction too. I’d cap the guy that was doing that to me.
Brother-in-law is a cop, and well you know where they stand on most things. He says he’d have to “take me in” if this scenario every happened and the perp was DRT by my hand.
It’s “procedure”.
Seriously? The man was playing cop when there was no commission of a crime in progress.
“Seriously”?......Nope, they can’t be. Nobody on FR is that damn stupid. Gotta be a joke.
