President Barack Obama shamed Congress in his State of the Union address on Tuesday night to pass legislation that already exists. Apparently not briefed by his secretary of labor and attorney general, Obama announced:
"That's why this Congress still needs to pass a law that makes sure a woman is paid the same as a man for doing the same work. Really. It's 2015. It's time."
But it was June 10, 1963 when Congress passed “The Equal Pay Act of 1963,” which can be found at 29 U.S.C. § 206(d). It says:
(d) Prohibition of sex discrimination (1) No employer having employees subject to any provisions of this section shall discriminate, within any establishment in which such employees are employed, between employees on the basis of sex by paying wages to employees in such establishment at a rate less than the rate at which he pays wages to employees of the opposite sex in such establishment for equal work on jobs the performance of which requires equal skill, effort, and responsibility, and which are performed under similar working conditions ….

If the Equal Pay Act is not being properly enforced, the Obama administration is responsible. If there is any inadequacy in how the Equal Pay Act is functioning, those regulations can be amended by Obama’s Cabinet. A president actually does have the power to fine-tune regulations in harmony with the law to ensure that the statute passed by Congress is being fully achieved and enforced.

On Tuesday, Obama also called for a federal effort to cure disease. Yet the National Institutes for Health were founded in 1930 for that purpose, from the previous Public Health Service. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were created in 1946). The Department of Health, Education and Welfare was created in 1953.

Once you’ve passed a law for every move a person could possibly make what else is there for statists to do but get to work on passing two?
Let’s be fair about this.
Obama was obviously talking about the need for an equal pay law in his own country.
When you get to the point where they propose laws that are already on the books, you know that the government is already too big.................
Does not matter one single bit if it is true or not. He said it on live TV to the world. That’s all that matters. The truth will never get around to his believers. And if it did they wouldn’t care.
Next he’ll tell us that the reason for open borders is that there are no rules on limiting immigration. Then he’ll tell us there is no legal reason for guarded border crossings.
It’s also about creating more means for wealth redistribution through more government agencies, etc.
Really, what he did was tell a whole bunch of lies in one statement, and garner support from perpetually aggrieved “social justice” leftists.
Lie - law doesn’t exist
Lie - women paid less than men for same work
Lie - his opponents oppose equal pay
Cracked me up hearing that, was the first thing I thought of.
He’ll be happy to know that Republican women of that era were actually the main sponsors.
He should have talked about selective enforcement of laws instead.

Bingo! All about repeating the Lies as truth - didn’t watch what PRAVDA, I mean the pundits, had to say afterwards as I wanted to keep my dinner in the stomach. Wonder if our PINO was called out for any of the multitude of BS he spewed. After all, they did all have advanced copies. I did hear Bob Shieffer say that it was smart of the GOP to pick Joni Ernst as their first responder cuz, y’know, those Republicans have a big problem with women... oh brother...that’s when I turned off the tv.
I believe that a strong majority of Americans watched “anything else” during the SOTU speech last night.
The vast majority of the actual viewing audience were “Low Information Voters” to whom these so-called proposals were being heard for the first time. To them, the presidential “goals” were in the classification of “Social Justice”.
He probably thought half a dozen new sexes to add.
