Tesla P85D Destroys Dodge Challenger Hellcat On Dragstrip: Electric Car Thrashes 707-HP Hemi (Video)
Green Car Reports ^ | Jan 19, 2015 | John Voelcker

Say "P85D" to Tesla owners and fans, and you will see the drooling and twitching and heavy breathing and lustful stares--and more drooling--that Tesla's fastest, highest-performance electric car brings.

The same happens with the word "Hellcat" for fans of high-powered Hemi V-8 performance.

Now, courtesy of two owners--each convinced that their car is the fastest, baddest beast on the road--we know what happens when the two cars face off on the drag strip.

Two days ago at Palm Beach International Raceway, a Tesla Model S P85D and a 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat competed in the traditional quarter-mile drag race.

Hint: It's no contest. At all. And the quieter car wins decisively.

...

And, now, can we please stop with the "wimpy electric golf car" stuff?

Miniscule only because there are so few pure electric automobiles. But that’s not what you are aiming at.

Ok, ill admit. Pouring engine change oil on the driveway edge weeds was more of an early 70s things.

“Not to mention that Musk admitted that Tesla won’t make a profit until 2020!”

Which mean, “Never”. Business models that need 5 plus years to mature never work out.

I call this the 5/3 plan: The business plan is for 5 years but the author/owner is always out with a stash of cash in 3 years as the plan crashes and burns by year 5.

Musk is no different. He knows tesla is a con and he will be rich and out in 3 years as the plan crashes and burns before 5 years.

The 5/3 Plan is the most common con game used in business. I’ve had the displeasure of being involved in many of them.

That was one pi$$ poor start by the Dodge, nose bobbing down then trying to recover!

Almost looked like "the fix" was in because it was so bad.

You don't come off the power at the line.

“The Tesla P85D has a 3.2 second 0-60.”

Yet it can only manage a quarter mile in 17 seconds???

“I swear, some people here seem to believe that in order to be a conservative you have to bathe yourself in crude oil every morning.”

No, you like to bath yourself in taxpayer monies instead.

“You know, it is possible to be a Conservative and look ahead to a time when we won’t need gasoline for our vehicles.”

But you are not a conservative if you demand taxpayers fund it.

Replacing those batteries is the giant weak spot of electric cars. You can replace a gasoline engine far cheaper and there may be some sort of environmental cleanup fee on the batteries.

Actually, I like to bathe in rare earth elements mined in china by political opponents of communism, followed by an hour in the smug sauna.

It makes all that evil crude smell vanish ;)

Noone is demanding taxpayers fund anything. Elon Musk success is not due to taxpayers. We don’t live in our ideal world. Elon success is due to Capitalism, not Socialism. Those of you who give credit to government will look silly when Liberals use Elon Musk’s businesses as examples of how socialism work
