Never doubt the resilience of the Seattle Seahawks.
Plagued by turnovers and outplayed much of Sunday by Green Bay, the Seahawks staged an improbable comeback and beat the Packers 28-22 in overtime. Russell Wilson, who struggled until the final minutes, hit Jermaine Kearse for a 35-yard touchdown 3:19 into the extra period on the only possession.
The Seahawks became the first defending champion to make the Super Bowl in 10 years, and will play the winner of the AFC title game between Indianapolis and New England. How they got there was stunning.
Green Bay had to work hard to give away that game.
Amen to that. Distressed, depressed, disgusted, disappointed, brokenhearted and other assorted words come to mind. Whatever will console the entire state of Wisconsin.
Total meltdown.
Not sure I’d call it a meltdown... GB has always been a first half scorer, while Seattle has ALWAYS been a finisher!
And given Seattle’s odd choice of plays, you can only second-guess GB’s defense!
I had no skin in this game, I just wanted to see the Packers win because I thought they had a better chance of beating the Patriots....who I think will beat the Colts...
It was quite the game....
Exactly correct; PLUS, GB didn’t even try to score on those two drives in the last 5 minutes. I was screaming at the TV every time Rogers did a hand off - good grief, no deception, no fakes.
When you play “not to lose” you generally end up doing just that.
The Packers should have had at least 4, if not 8 more points. they played FAR to cautiously, especially in the 4th qtr.
That was such an amazing comeback, I couldn’t even be mad about it. That Marshawn Lynch is ridiculous, it’s like he can play the whole game by himself, everyone else can just hang out on the sidelines.
No matter who won, NFL football is as boring as aytch-eeee-double tooth picks.
Not as boring as Tennis!!! Or Watching Flog!!!
Your team soundly beat us for 3.7 qtrs. No give up in that fight at all. No less would be expected from such a great organization.
A game we all can savor.
How can you beat a man who’s named after athletic equipment and apparel?
It was pretty funny to read that thread after the game was over.
GO HAWKS!
“the Seattle quarterback (Russell Wilson) is a Christian, and he cried during the post-game interview and gave glory to God”
He, and several other players and some coaches where very clearly in a prayer circle right after the game ended. They showed it on the TV, but the announcers made no comment on it. (No comment was required of course.)
That to me was pretty cool, esp. in super lib Seattle.
He did a good job, that one play were he ran the ball in was excellently done.
Cosell to Ali, (After one of Ali’s rants), “You are being extremely truculent”. Ali RIGHT back: “Whatever truculent mean if it’s good I’m that”. Put Howard right away!
If Ha-Ha had swatted away that easy lob to Luke Willson for the 2-point convert, GB could have won with the final field goal.
That 2 points made it a tie, and into overtime.
BUT I will say this, the NFL’s overtime rule is unfair and needs to be changed - each team should get at least 1 possession, this current rule just rewards whoever lucks out in the OT coin toss.
If New England holds on in this game, Belichick will be up against his predecessor (Carroll), who coached the Pats from 1997-1999. That will be a good matchup.
Also, if New England wins the Super Bowl, would not be surprised to see both Belichick and Brady announce their retirements as it will be their 4th Super Bowl win (and 6th SB appearance) together. It will be their opportunity to go out on top.
Can’t wait to hear the excuses from the “Cowgirls folded like a lawn chair” Packers fans. Your team just gave up a bigger lead I believe....
Rodgers was missing passes all day. Green Bay should have led 28-0.
That’s why I knew Seattle could come back, because Green Bay wasn’t going to get many more points in the second half, once Seattle started to make some plays.
The reasoning is that although a team gets the ball first, usually they will be deep in their own territory, thus if they turn over the ball or gets a three and out, the other team gets the ball in much better field position.
That’s why throughout the history of overtime, it’s pretty much 50/50 as to whether the team that gets the ball first wins or loses.
