Pro-life leaders are expressing their fury toward Rep. Renée Ellmers (R-NC) for seeking to delay what has been expected to be a relatively easy passage next week of a House bill that would restrict abortions to 20 weeks of pregnancy based on scientific evidence that unborn babies experience pain at 20 weeks of gestation.
According to the National Journal, Ellmers is leading a group of moderate Republican congresswomen who appear to have concerns about the political ramifications of the bill which is to be voted on next week on the 42nd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision because it may alienate millennials and women in general.
In a closed-door session of the House GOP, Ellmers reportedly spoke out against bringing up the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would ban abortion after 20 weeks, telling the conference that she believes the bill will cost the party support among millennials.
I have urged leadership to reconsider bringing it up next week.
We got into trouble last year, and I think we need to be careful again; we need to be smart about how were moving forward, Ellmers said in an interview. The first vote we take, or the second vote, or the fifth vote, shouldnt be on an issue where we know that millennialssocial issues just arent as important [to them].

I see the duplicitous Renée Ellmers is apparently conflating millennials with the Chamber of Commerce (to which she is beholden having sold her soul in exchange for supporting Amnesty). There is next to ZERO overlap.
I thought millenials are pro life
Last year the GOP won the house the senate and won a multitude of states.
If the GOP wants to surrender the abortion issue, the immigration issue, the tax issue to the Dems then there really is no point in Conservatives voting for them.
Some are, but I have seen teens and college student protest for abortion as a human right, so a woman doesn’t need to have to suffer for a mistake or a rape. I am disturbed, but do not underestimate the charm of groupthink and calling abortion a “right”.
“it may alienate millennials and women in general.”
Any woman who kills her baby should be alienated!
It should be,and hopefully more of those young indivduals who think of abortion as a right, somehow start thinking about the meaning of what they are saying.
The GOPe wants to use this kind of “20 week ban” to suck in Pro-Life voters. The bill won’t get past the House and even if it gets to Obama’s desk we all know what happens there.
This “20 week ban” is to generate emotional support for the Republican Party Establishment members of Congress.
Now Ellmers is making a fuss about it, she is one of the GOPe crowd herself.
95 percent of Republican House members either fake conservatism or repudiate it.
What really distresses me is that I was foolish enough to make a contribution to her in the earlier years...are they all frauds?
Lady, if you are more interested in the stoned millennials than you are about killing God’s children, you are heading for Hell. Too bad you just won another term from voters who should have known better. But 2016 is not that far away and they can correct their mistake.
She just sealed her fate. First, pro amnesty, now pro death. Fitting since she is politically dead. Should switch parties now. We have enough non conservative GOP in NC as it is.
The first vote we take, or the second vote, or the fifth vote, shouldn't be on an issue where we know that millennials -- social issues just aren't as important [to them].If so, why bring it up?
One sick woman.
