There is only one ruling they could make in today’s world.
People forget what a set of “United states” means. It means laws can and will be different in each of the states. People are so uncomfortable with the idea of Liberty.
Giving Americans a top down government makes it easier for enemies to take over.
Wait. I thought that 2012 was supposed to be the year. Then it was 2013. Then 2014......
I bet it will be at least 6/3 because someone will want to get on the right side of history once they see which way the vote is going. My guess is Roberts.
Yes. “Historic” has such a different meaning these days. Naziism was also historic. Barack Obama’s election will one day be historic for things far more significant than his tanned skin.
We know how this will end. The only real question is whether we will do anything about it.
Let’s see how Roberts twists “same sex marriage” into a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution.
It will be “settled law” if SCOTUS upholds homo marriage and it won’t be over if they declare homo marriage unconstitutional.
Oh, I have little doubt that they will uphold homo “marriage” somehow.
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Seems pretty clear. The constitution does not mention marriage. Clearly a States Right, or the People.
My Tagline stands. The US is now entering the Highway to Hell.
Gay marriage was approved by the voters in ME, MD, WA and MN. It was approved by elected legislatures in CT, DC, DE, HI, IL, NH, NY, RI and VT. It was also approved by the legislatures in MA and CA after earlier bans had been struck down in court.
I have no doubt that we’re going to see a 5-4 or 6-3 decision. The main question in my mind at this point is this: how are the GOP candidates going to respond?
There aren’t many candidates I like on this issue. Many of them are far too weak on it, either not challenging it, disingenously shrugging it off, or claiming it’s a states’ rights issue.
But this is going to be plopped in their laps. They’ll be required to go on the record about precisely where they stand. And it’ll determine whether I even consider voting for them.

Fourteenth Amendment Section 1:
No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge
the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States;
nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property,
without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction
the equal protection of the laws.
Electing one of us as President won't make any difference, you need to elect a lot of us to state legislatures and to statewide office and to judges where elected.
Well . . .Let’s see. Our Right to Life was not found to be inherent in our Constitution, but the Right to Sodomite-Marriage most definitely WILL be found by our Supreme Court.

Now the Supreme Court is like the police. They make everything thing they are involved in worse.
If SCOTUS says there is no constitutional right to gay marriage, it will not overturn the gay marriage laws in the four states that adopted it by voter referenda, the 11 states (plus DC) that adopted it by votes of the legislature, or the four states where it was imposed by state courts under their state constitutions. It will also not prevent future votes by state legislatures to approve it where it is now banned (not that Oklahoma or Utah are going to do that any time soon, but places like Pennsylvania might.)
