Shortages are nothing new in Venezuela. Indeed, a shortage of toilet paper has been the subject of global amusement for quite some time. But recently, the shortages have become much worse. Last week, a government official was jeered for saying that long lines indicated that Venezuela has plenty of food, when rows and rows of empty shelves in stores were telling a different story. Bloomberg reports that people are queueing overnight for necessities such as soap, milk and diapers. This is very dangerous. Venezuela is already one of the most violent societies on earth. And when shortages start to affect little children, people get angry.

I read somewhere that someone in a baseball stadium started a chant and was escorted out immediately by riot cops (already in place?) but the whole stadium started chanting and the riot cops retreated.
The author said that even very recently this would have only been a few people joining in. He thinks things are much worse than we know.

Just because socialism has been proven to be a failure everywhere it has been tried doesn’t deter liberals from trying to impose it on the US.
Apparently it almost caused a riot.... check out the video

Which ever side promises the most money to the Democrat Party.
This is the future that Seattle’s socialist council member - Kshama Sawant - envisions for the U.S.
They cannibalized their own productive class, then rode the wave of oil revenue and when it ran out, they finally ran out of other people’s money. Socialism has NEVER been successful. It simply is a scheme to loot the productive for as long as possible to let government cronies and the voting lazy live the good life.
I’m not sure they did vote freely. Maybe the original election 13 or so years ago was fair, but I doubt the last few have been.

They'll back the current marxists just like they supported Zelaya when he was legally ousted as Honduras' president by their Supreme Court back in 2009......

Until recently, the Castro brothers were getting bailed out by Venezuela. Glad they found a different Marxist stooge to bail them out this time!
A couple of my liberal in laws think I am nuts for having 6 months of toilet paper in the attic. Along with a case of good quality bath soap. A 2 year supply of toothbrushes, dental floss and toothpaste.
These same in laws shop on Sunday each week and buy........exactly one week’s supply of food. But that’s all they need because the clubhouse in their retirement community has a restaurant /chuckle
Question. If there is a revolution there who will the United states back?
Are you asking who will the US people back, or who will the US Fed government back? Two different things.
6 months of toilet paper in the attic would be great here, there is NO insulation up there.
I'm surprised you let them know you have supplies. You know where they'll be headed in case of need.
My mom - at any given time - has 2 six packs of coke, some bananas, and 100 calorie popcorn bags at her house. That's what she lives on, just a few days of no transportation and she'd be in a heap of trouble. It's so funny, you open her frig - nothing in there. When we visit for several days, we eat what we bring or eat out.
How can you say that? Our Socialists have never really had the opportunity to try it!
I'm sure they can make it work better. After all, they are so much smarter and well educated than the other Socialists who failed so miserably. It is simply a matter of trying harder and smarter with more dedicated and brighter people. I'm sure it will work if we give them a chance!
Venezuelans freely elected Hugo Chavez president in 1998 by a landslide (57%). Mostly those looking for handouts.
You are correct that elections have been tainted since then. Once a Marxist takes power, power will never be relented.
I agree and the bus driver will fight to keep power
