A Fort Hood soldier who just returned from West Africa and was self-monitoring for Ebola symptoms was found dead on Tuesday outside his apartment, officials said.
Killeen police and hazmat teams arrived after 911 calls came in of a man's body on the front lawn of his home, which is just outside the base.
Fort Hood said that the 24-year-old man, who has not been named, had returned on January 7 as part of a 87-person team assigned to West Africa for three months and was found dead at around 7.30am.
Carrie Williams, director of media relations for Texas Department of State Health Services, told CBS News the man was stationed in Liberia.

Spot on.
So sad for thus young man.
Prayers.
I was kinda wondering the same thing. How and who determined that a Hazmat team needed to be dispatched? If the person who found the body knew that this person had just recently been in West Africa, that might make sense. Is the Army monitoring the police bands trying to catch these incidents before anyone can get wise to what is up with these returning service members?

Thanks....now what did he die of??? Gunshot wound would be pretty easy to spot.

Im just surprised this got out.
There's no doubt that hussein/holder/jarrett are behind this. That evil trio can leverage the billions of dollars held by Warren Buffett and George Soros to enact their vile schemes. As a mooselimb, hussein and his regime are committed to destroying a free Republic. It will take the likes of Senator Ted Cruz and Governor Sarah Palin to get America back on course. January 2017 can't some soon enough!
Until it appears here on Free Republic from a reliable source, the leftist media (also known as the enemy) can't be trusted. Recall that See-BS was lying about George W. Bush's record in the service. It took the diligence of Patriotic FReepers to uncover the lies of Dan Rather, leading ultimately to his firing and subsequent humiliation. There's no doubt that Free Republic will expose another falsehood from the lamestream, marxist-run media. The default setting is to always assume the media is complicit in coverups being orchestrated by hussein's regime.
How very sad. Regardless of whether he had ebola or not there is no good reason that jug-ears sent these soldiers over there.
Thanks CDC... nice to know the billions we throw away on you guys is for nothing...
I agree. Google is a far, far left anti-American outfit. They spin the results in their so-called "search engine" to push marxist and muzzie propaganda of the current regime. Google is part of the enemy lamestream media and simply can't be trusted. Free Republic has a perfectly fine search tool, far better than what the morons of Google offer.
Points:
1) It appears they are not taking the quarantine too seriously if they are letting folks out for ‘unstated family emergencies’
2) What are the odds of the ‘only’ person let out of quarantine, a young, healthy, soldier, dropping dead ?
“FORT HOOD (January 13, 2015)—Fort Hood is one of five installations at which soldiers returning from West Africa will be monitored in separate facilities. The others are Fort Bliss in El Paso, Fort Bragg, N.C., Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., and Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.
A week ago nearly 90 soldiers who deployed to West Africa to support U.S. efforts in the fight against Ebola returned to the post, where theyll spend 21-days being monitored for symptoms of the potentially deadly virus.
The 87 soldiers from the posts 36th Engineer Brigade who have returned from Liberia will spend 21 days at the posts Controlled Monitoring Area site, where theyll conduct training until the monitoring period ends.
Theyll return to their units and families after a welcome home ceremony in three weeks.
While the monitoring is precautionary given the low probability that any of the troops may have been exposed to someone with the virus, any soldier who does exhibit symptoms of Ebola would be moved to a medical area at the site and in the event of an Ebola diagnosis, would be treated at the appropriate medical facility, the Army said in a news release.
Eighty of the 87 soldiers who returned to the post last week are from Fort Hood and seven are from Fort Carson, Colo.
More than 500 Fort Hood troops were among the 3,200 U.S. soldiers deployed to West Africa to help in the fight against a historic Ebola outbreak. The soldiers are assigned to Fort Hood’s 1st Medical Brigade, the 36th Engineer Brigade and the 85th Civil Affairs Brigade.”

Here is just one of the reports that the Ebola test was negative. There were two tests done, both got negative results.
Here is a list of results from a search on this subject, and contains even more articles on this, stating the tests were negative.
The reason for the HAZMAT team was explained in one of the articles. It was because of procedures developed after the FIRST FEW CASES that caused such a PANIC, that any soldier returning from Africa, who becomes ill or dies, a HAZMAT TEAM is sent, just in case.
WHICH is exactly why the initial PANIC (or as I would call it a necessary level of awareness of the problem) was a GOOD THING.
It is better to have the HAZMAT TEAM there, and not be needed than to not have them there, and need them. Ebola is not something to be taken a chance with.
