LEGENDARY Australian actor Rod Taylor has passed away in the early hours of the morning US time after suffering from a heart attack.
The 84-year-old, who starred in Hollywood flicks including most recently Quentin Tarantinos Inglorious Basterds, was said to have died at home in LA following a dinner party.
It was to have been his birthday on Sunday.
His daughter Felicia confirmed his death to CNN.
My dad loved his work. Being an actor was his passion calling it an honorable art and something he couldnt live without, Felicia, a former CNN News correspondent, said in a statement.
He once said, I am a poor student sitting at the feet of giants, yearning for their wisdom and begging for lessons that might one day make me a complete artist, she continued, so that if all goes well, I may one day sit beside them.

One of my all-time favorites: The Glass Bottom Boat with Rod Taylor, Doris Day, Arthur Godfrey, Paul Lynde, and the couple who played the Kravitzes on Bewitched. Although Paul Lynde stole the show by being himself and the movie was completely shallow, Taylor played Doris Day’s romantic interest/leading man perfectly. I was about 11 when I watched it with my parents the first time. We laughed so hard it hurt.
God rest his soul.
Wow I thought she was French!
“Dark of the Sun” with Yvette Mimieux and Jim Brown.
yeah they showing on weekdays hour on Friday night and Sunday nights at 7pm Coxi been on buying spree they score the right of Adam 12 and Dragent
Was hooked on reruns of his old TV show, “Hong Kong”, when I was young, in the early 70’s. One of the reasons I became a zoomie, and a “Jet-setter”, so I could see the world.
Thanks for the tip; I’ll check to see if it’s on one if the oldie movie stations.
I always thought he was a major hunk.
RIP, Mr. Gorgeous.
The Birds
I did, too. I recently DVR’d it but haven’t watched it yet. Last saw it 20 years ago. I wonder what became of the luscious little blonde number he hung out with....or was she barbecued by the Morlocks? Never had heard that Taylor was an Australian.
Damn.... good actor, always liked his work. “The Birds” is still one of my favorites.
Remember “The Bearcats”? Short-lived tv series, but he was in it.
RIP Rod.
That was him? Wow, unrecognizable.
“..I know our favority gunny likes it...”
OOOrah, you know I do.
The Moorlocks were some evil critters...
Hard to recognize him in that. RIP Rod...thanks for the memories...from a fellow Aussie.
Man! Is MY face red! Didn’t realize the blonde was Yvette Mimeux. Another luscious little sweetheart was France Ngyuen in SOUTH PACIFIC.
ping
Love him in “Young Cassidy” about the playwright Sean O’Casey. Also starred Maggie Smith and Julie Christie (right before she hit it big).
One of my favorite actors. He was never as big a star as he should have been.
Thanks for the ping. Another great actor leaves us. RIP Mr. Taylor. Thanks for the movie memories.
