I changed after the McCain debacle. Independent.
It do feel good!
I did it a few months ago-after 52 years as a “R.”
I did so about 13 months ago. I joined the Libertarian party when I realized I had more issues and disagreement with the GOP than I did with the LP, sad to say.I was a Republican for 34 years.
Ted Cruz is the only Texan in Congress that truly represents me. My Congressman John Carter and Senator John Cornyn are liars and fakes.
I did it in 2008. The McCain choice was the final straw.
Welcome.
I’m remaining “R” to avoid all the robo calls and junk mail that would come my way if I changed to Independent.
I just moved to Alaska and got my drivers last week. Lifelong Republican but registered as unaffiliated.
I will remain a registered Republican. I believe in what the party stands for deespite some (too many) of its leaders not adhering to its principles. RINOS or other party apostates don’t change what the party was founded upon. I also think a third party route will only ensure lib Dem victory.
Welcome to the club. I dropped the "R" in 1991 after "Read my lips, no new taxes" became a broken promise.
Have never regretted my decision. The STUPID Party (R) is not my party.
The repubs died when they ran McCain against Obama.
My state doesn’t require registration. But I ended my lifelong support and exclusive-voting pattern for the GOP. The Party just no longer represents my values or my views. Every issue that ever compelled me to support the GOP, they have now deserted. I’m seeing them now funding things like amnesty and Obamacare, and totally surrendering on issues like homo-marriage.
Hence, absolutely no reason I can see to ever give the GOP my vote again. First began losing respect for the Party when the GOP leadership repeatedly backstabbed Palin, following up with the nomination of a Massachusetts liberal like Romney. But these recent events have put the final nail in the coffin, proving once and for all that the GOP shares the same abject contempt for my beliefs and for my values that the Dems do.
In Maine, like Boston, we drop the R from words like “Car” (Cah) and “Lobster” (Lobstah).
However, because of the Law of Conservation of Rs, we then add ADD an R to words like “Alabama” (Alabamer) and “Banana” (Bananer)
I’ve been unaffiliated for a very long time. I’ve voted in primaries of both major parties, but in recent years have voted only in the Republican ones, while retaining my Independent status.
However I—and every one else—vote, the pro-”gay”, pro-Third World immigration, pro-abortion, pro-neocon/liberal interventionist, pro-obamacare, and anti-Christian (especially anti-Orthodox Christian) side always wins! PHOOEY!!!!
Ok...I agree Republicans are traitorous cowards hellbent on the destruction of this nation and lining their wallets as much as Demonic Democrats. Fine!
But when JEB is going against the Hildabeast or Reservation Wannabe Warren who you gonna vote for?
So now I vote in general elections (can't vote in primaries in this state) , but I will write in the candidate I want. For example, I'm sure the party will anoint another liberal in 2016. So I will write in a conservative, if I can find one I can trust.
