Rep. Mia Love, R-Utah, shocked some conservatives Tuesday when the first vote she cast as a new congresswoman was to keep Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, as House speaker.
Twitter erupted, with several people claiming to be in her district saying they had lost faith in their previous hero, and that she had shown her true self. Remember, this was not a vote on legislation, it was a vote for the speaker of the House.
Love, in an email to the Washington Examiner, provided some insight into why she chose to keep Boehner as GOP leader.
“There were no qualified or notable campaigns for speaker within the Republican Party other than John Boehner,” Love said. “Casting a vote for a candidate who has not actively campaigned and does not have the support to be speaker is an indirect vote for Nancy Pelosi, and I will not vote for Nancy Pelosi.”
Love also reminded voters that she is playing the long game when it comes to fighting for conservative principles.
“There will be a time and a place for me to stand as a lone voice of dissension, but the vote for the speaker, is not that place,” Love said. “For me to be an effective congressman over the next two years it is important for me to be on the side of the elected speaker.”
He was undecided on the Senate bill. Even more liberal than Gowdy piecemeal amnesty.

Then she is totally ignorant of the House rules. A 30 second Google search would have told her that the Speaker needs an absolute majority of all votes cast. Pelosi was never going to become Speaker on Democrat votes alone. Even if a hundred Rebublicans had voted against Boehner, Pelosi would still have been short of the 50% plus one vote requirement. She would have needed a substantial number of Republicans to vote for her in order to win, and that wasn't happening.
A term limits amendment would prevent this kind of intimidation/power game.

She is getting hammered on Facebook. I was fool enough to contribute to her, but she, Mr. Trey Gowdy, and many others may as well edit their solicitation lists with my name on them.
What we really need are real Conservatives who will put their money where their mouth is and demand this Republican Congress do as we conservatives are asking and that means all of us stay on top of our representatives......if they don't do as advertised....watch 'em like a hawk and speak out Often and Loud!
If you are not faxing, calling the local office and writing both your Congressman, Senators, and newspapers...don't complain, you are part of the mess!

I think Mia Love has a problem with her skin..... it’s way too thin and it smells like RINO.
What I get from her statement is that she didn’t understand that to vote against Boehner would be a vote for Pelosi. Someone gave her bad information - she is new - so, let’s see how she does from here on out. Someone hood winked her with that scenario and many on here believed the same thing - so why throw stones at her?
What are the odds Ms Love will return the campaign donations she received as an avowed constitutional conservative.
