WASHINGTON, DC Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) released the following statement today regarding his decision to buck the status quo and challenge John Boehner in the race for House Speaker:
After the November elections gave Republicans control of the Senate, voters made clear they wanted change. There have been numerous examples of problematic Republican leadership, but we were hopeful our leaders got the voters message. However, after our Speaker forced through the CRomnibus by passing it with Democratic votes and without time to read it, it seemed clear that we needed new leadership. There had been much discussion. But, until yesterday, no one had stepped up.
I applaud my friend Rep. Ted Yoho for putting his name forward as an alternative to the status quo. Ted is a good man for whom I could vote, but I have heard from many supporters and also friends in Congress who have urged me to put forward my name for Speaker as well to increase our chances of change. That is why I am also offering my name as a candidate for Speaker.
There is false information being floated that any Republican candidates in addition to the current Speaker will split the vote and give the Speaker's gavel to Congresswoman Pelosi. This is nothing but a scare tactic to keep the current regime in power.
As long as Republicans vote for an adult American citizen for Speaker, no Democrat can win. Only if 59 Republicans voted Present would there be a chance for a Democrat to win.
To win the Speakers race, an adult American citizen has to get a clear majority of all Members of Congress on the House floor voting for an eligible person. Voting Present simply reduces the number of votes required to win a majority. If no one wins a majority on the first ballot, then we go to a second vote, then a third, until someone gets a majority.
At this point, the Speakers election is not about a particular candidate. It is about whether we keep the status quo or make the change the country demands. I am putting forward my name for consideration as Speaker and hope that with a new Speaker, be that me or someone else, we can fight for the ideals and principles that the voters wanted when they elected us in November.
Congressman Gohmert is the Vice Chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. Prior to being elected to serve in Congress, Louie was elected to three terms as District Judge in Smith County, Texas. He was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to complete a term as Chief Justice of the 12th Court of Appeals.
Please post here any sites you see that have Louie’s announcement.
Louie Gohmert as Speaker is almost too much to hope for, but I'll sure keep my fingers crossed. Boehner has GOT to go.
This is wonderful news!
Pity Louis if the coup fails
Godspeed
It would sure be a wonder
NeoCon heads exploding like a still cookoff let unattended
Don’t worry about Louie. He can take everything that the progressives bring his way.
“If Pelosis caucus votes for Boehner...”
Do you expect to be taken seriously?
“You need a majority to win of your partys caucus.”
That’s not even a coherent sentence.
Unless Boehner goes, a new party will be needed before I will vote again. People need to review what crooked ends Haley Barbour went to so they could defeat a Tea Party candidate in Mississippi. They are thug politians!
Ahh, but as another poster pointed out, if the ‘rats vote present, that reduces the number necessary for a first ballot win. Which is what is likely to happen.
But it’s really academic. This has been scripted and choreographed from the get go. I’d expect nothing less from the House of Kabuki. There will be a dramatic vote, but rest assured the uniparty candidate will win.
“I bet he is drinking a triple martini right about now, knowing his fate is sealed. Maybe he is sitting in a corner crying. Time will tell.”
More likely he’s laughing his arse off at the naive rubes who think the end result hasn’t already been decided.
Pity Louis if the coup fails
Don’t worry, the powers that be tried to erode Louie’s percentage of the vote this time, and Louie who won last time with 75% got 78% this recent election.
It would be nice if Levin, Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage and Ingraham all endorse Louie. Freepers who regularly contact these radio hosts should contact them and urge them to do more than complain about boner.
Some might say that has everything to do with the fact that the media and those in the DC establishment are controlled by the same people. Check out the link below. Watch the trailer and then click on the link to the official film report.

I don't have any pull, but we need to send them email.
Anyone have the email addresses for these folks. We need to do this now so that they have it for their Monday radio show.
I've used these two emails before, but don't know if there are better email addresses:
rush@eibnet.com
hannity@foxnews.com
Maybe be one for Hannity’s radio show would be better.
“Do you expect to be taken seriously?”
All I have seen here for the past 3 months is Boehner is a democrat. He will caucus with democrats, he hates the TEA party. Why would Pelosi tell her caucus to vote against him? They do more damage to the TEA party voting for Boehner than against him.
If Boehner loses his seat to the TEA party, the rats are toast. Will Pelosi do it? Probably not, they are rats and will figure out a way to screw it up. All Boehner will do is throw them a lifeline and really screw it up.
The leadership vote should separate the men from the boys, if you know what I mean and I think you do.
Besides The Hill, and Fox News, the announcement is in the Washington Times, the Daily Caller, the Blaze, National Review, and the Washington Post. This is great for Louie and for us!
They would do it too, if they think Louie has any chance of winning. The RINOs would rather have Peelousy as Speaker again than have Gohmert.
CNN covered it too, but I had to search for the story on their site:

Weeper of the House
LOL, hadn’t heard that before.
