It sounds like one of those only-in-San-Francisco tales: San Francisco's sheriff cannot carry a gun because he is on probation. "That doesn't handicap me from being a sheriff," Ross Mirkarimi told me.

Yes, RKTMAN, due to the domestic violence conviction, he is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition either till the day he dies, gets a Pardon, or there is a change in the Lautenberg law, whichever comes first.
WTF..just realized not a domestic violence conviction...
There was a well respected Arizona Sheriff who had been in office for over 50 years, and on his retirement, they wanted to chrome plate his revolver and put it on a plaque for him.
They then discovered that they could not remove it from the holster. As over the course of all those years, it had never been used or cleaned, and was stuck to the leather. After cutting off the leather, the gun itself was revealed to be just a piece of rust with a handle.
They inquired how he was able to personally solve 70 homicides without ever drawing his gun, and he replied that typically, he would ride out to where someone had been killed, then ask the first person he met, “Who shot the dead man?” He would then ride to that person’s home and ask them if they shot the dead man, and they almost always said “yes”.
So he would tell them they were under arrest, and to get on their horse and ride with him to the county seat for trial. And they did.
This is contrasted by another Arizona Sheriff, in Coconino county (Flagstaff), who was so renowned as a deadly shot that when his small jail was full, arrestees without handcuffs would walk around with him on his morning foot patrol through the city. None dared to even try to escape. And even prisoners whose charges had been dropped were very hesitant to leave unless a lawyer, friend or family member was there to walk out the door with them.
Just. Plain. .......Shiite.
Yes, that’s true. I simply identified the legal infraction which resulted in probation. I did not comment on the justice of the situation.
Understand I was talking about how some situations never get fully covered by MSM.
Remember when they replaced Daryl Gates as Los Angeles police chief with Willie Williams?
Williams couldn’t pass his tests to be able to carry a gun.
“Williams never took the POST exams required to become a peace officer in California. Not being POST certified, Williams as Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department could not make a felony arrest, and his provisional membership in the California Police Chiefs Association was terminated early in his tenure as Chief due to his lack of certification. The California legislature passed special legislation defining Chiefs of Police as peace officers regardless of POST certification so Williams could carry a firearm.”
True, but this one got a lot of press because of his position. The couple got in a fight in public, an observer called the police, and things went downhill from there. Both of them now say they wish it hadn’t happened.
I guess you really don’t need to carry a gun when the most dangerous part of your job is doing press conferences for TV.
Think it was a SitCom, but I could have read it. Big argument between wife and hubby. She goes into the kitchen, comes out with a butcher knife saying "I heard that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. LET'S SEE IF IT'S TRUE!"
Both of them now say they wish it hadnt happened.
Big problems happen when people act before thinking what the end result will be.
I think "I have your back" might mean something different in San Francisco.
WTF.. a sheriff on probation... for what man boy love?
So he is straight? He must be in the minority in SanFran...
“Why is he on probation?”
He was convicted of beating up his wife.
“Former sheriff and the Clark county sheriff were the only two in the state that supported the failed anti gun bill last session.”
Unfortunately, Clark and Washoe counties are where virtually ALL the population of Nevada live.
The Washoe sheriff is new and hopefully conservative. You are right about these two being the most populace. We are trying to keep Washoe to the right but it is a battle.
LMAO! San Fran Sheriff can’t carry a gun.
The sheriff is probably a “Packers” or “Browns” fan...
Possibly a Rams fan.
