Tampa, Fla. Barry Alvarez, Wisconsin's full-time athletic director and two-time interim head coach, passed the baton to new head coach Paul Chryst in style Thursday.
UW entered the 2015 Outback Bowl a 61/2-point underdog against Southeastern Conference power Auburn.
Yet the Badgers erased the memories of an ugly 59-point loss in the Big Ten title game thanks to another remarkable performance from Melvin Gordon, a tying field goal in the final minute of regulation and the winner in overtime by freshman kicker Rafael Gaglianone, and finally a huge defensive stand.

EGADS, an SEC fan who admits the truth; good on ya.
All teams have their ups and downs.
As a PAC12 fan, I get sick of the sports media worshipping the SEC and the east coast bias in general...just sayin'
I hope for a good National Championship game but think Oregon will kick ass.
It’s Lane Kiffin’s “new” offense. He’s trying to turn Bama into a passing team.
I bet Saban is mad as “heck” after this game. And all the AL fans too.
Dont forget Michigan State won too.
Yes ohio state sec loses
No doubt the SEC was weak this year. I don’t think Ohio State can handle Oregon though. Oregon looks to be best in the nation at this point.
Lets play the game...
By the middle of the third quarter Oregon will be able to run any play they want and gain yards galore, OSU defense will be so exhausted from the pace. Oregon will not self destruct as my Crimson Tide did, they don’t have Kiffin calling the plays.
I made the comment earlier in this thread. Oregon is offensive football at HYPER SPEED.
This year I’ll be neutral for the championship game. So will be interesting for me...I won’t be pulling for either team. I just thought Oregon looked extremely good. Will be a huge thing for Ohio St. to beat them—can they keep up with the pace of Oregon? If so, the whole nation will say Ohio St. is the true champion this year and well-deserved.
The sec didn’t win a championship this year.
Over the past 20 years 50% of national championships have went to an Sec team.
Over the past 10 is increased to 70%.
Doesn’t sound like the sec is overrated. It sounds like they are better.
Consistently the best team from the sec is put up against the best team from the rest of the nation and the sec team wins.
Down year for the sec, yes it was but if all the colleges in the country want to change the above numbers there’s only one thing they can do.
Get better at playing football.
Agree....! They have one heck of an offense....!
This is the first time since the BCS came to be that a team from the South won’t be in the CFB championship game.
Why did they hire the “goofus”....? Wonder what Bama fans think about Kiffie now....? lol
Being a lifelong Buckeye fan, I can’t help but root for them, and understand that they will be severe underdogs.
I hate having to play Oregon and that frightening offense along with a sufficient defense, but the way that the Buckeyes have played over the last several games gives me at least a glimmer of hope. :)
SEC was very weak this year. Over rated this year definitely.
AND the year before that and the year before that. National championship between each other is what they excel at when they can get the selection committee organized the way they want it. Although SEC arranged a favorable selection committee again this year, they couldn’t get it done on the field. A so-so OU clobbered the Tide in post season last year, too.
Over-rated is right!

I was surprised at the big plays Alabama gave up. Unlike their entire season.
But Florida State showed teams what to do: Go to the SEC coaches and build your program from there. Urban Meyer may be the second former SEC coach to win a title this year.
However, Oregon looked unstoppable in the second half. Gotta expect them to be a 6-8 point favorite in the NC game.
This was the highest rated college football year in history. The limited playoff system generated a ton of interest and everyone feels like they have a shot.
TCU looked like they may have been the best team from the south in the bowl game. Too bad they blew their chance losing to Baylor late.
SEC was overall a bit down this year. Lot of young talent though and next year should be back on track.
I’d like to see more of the triple option Ga Tech / Oregon offense in the SEC. It’s entertaining to watch and effective.
Yeah, months ago. And now Ohio State is playing for the National Championship. Whats your point?
They were underdogs against Alabama too - and won with a 3rd string quarterback. They will be competitive against the Ducks.
I can't think of a CFB team that would match up with the Ducks this year. Yes there was Arizona but that was a fluke. In fact, there's a good number of NFL teams that would have a fight with that group from Eugene.
