Target is fighting back after being criticized for Annie-themed clothing ads showing a white model as Annie, as opposed to an African-American model, or Quvenzhané Wallis, the actress who plays the character in the holiday remake.
LaSean Rinique told Yahoo she launched a Change.org petition after her daughter, an Annie fan, noticed that a girl in the ads sporting Annies signature red dress and locket was white, unlike Wallis, who appears alongside Jamie Foxx in the movie remake.

Thought we weren't allowed to notice anything. Whaddya know.
Such miserable people. Perpetually offended. Always angry about something.
By Hollywood standards, “Anniequa” is a bomb. This is just some PR attempt to recoup more money by generating controversy.
I guess Target was appealing to non-black customers; shame on them for marketing outside the black race.
They are probably smart enough to know that this film will be viewed as “black entertainment”, and selling to 13% of the population isn’t a good business model.
Give Bill Cosby his due when he observed, "How can we demand respect when we can't even name our kids?"
The ants go marching two by two, hurrahhh, hurrahhhhh ..
white ... black ... white ... black
Are we confused enough yet ?
It's not of God ... HE is not the author of confusion.
Don’t we know?
Annie, Santa Claus and God are all black
Affirmative action ya know
LaSean. I suppose that means “the Sean”.
“Microagression” by Target.
Quvenzhané???????
Quvenzhané???????
I used to work for a government agency that dealt with child welfare cases. When a software developer sold a new case management package to the agency it included various buttons with symbols, such as a button with scales to bring up the legal document scanning module, a button with a simple child face to bring up the child bio info page, etc. Well the child cartoon was of a white boy with blond hair, which didn’t sit well with at least one of the hard-left white lesbians in the office, so the developer was asked back to replace the offending symbol with a dark skin dark hair graphic. Not sure what the taxpayers paid for that one.
Isn't that a cough suppressent? The one they mix with Skittles and Ice Tea to make Purple Drank?
Annie’s been around and wildly popular for over 35 years, played entirely by white girls.
Since a low-popularity movie has come out with a black Annie, all future references must have her be black?
Does not compute.
This racism (usually by “blacks”) is very, very tiresome.
Quvenzhané?
Really?
If we can have Idris Elba as James Bond [and he is cute] ... then why no white Annie?
