Liberals everywhere were outraged this week after Rush Limbaugh said a black man playing James Bond would be “ridiculous.” The comments were made on Tuesday in regard to leaked Sony emails that revealed that CEO Amy Paschal wanted the black actor Idris Elba to play James Bond. Rush, however, wasn’t having any of it. “James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is, was,” the conservative radio show host said. “But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland.” “That’s not who James Bond is and I know it’s racist to probably point this out,” he added. Maybe the next XXX should be played by a white guy?
“There is no artistic or cinematic reason James Bond couldn’t be black.”
And the next “Shaft” should be white.
How about a white Shaft (as mentioned in a previous post) or Othello?
Why do movie producer consider playing black actors in roles that had previously been played by white actors, but not vice versa?
The answer is that a lot of movies are aimed at minority viewing audiences. And the reasons a lot of these leftists don't want this question answered is that these movies have become increasingly violent, silly and dumbed down as they are marketed to these audiences.
Hollywood is waiting for Leonardo DiCaprio to get a few more wrinkles then they'll offer the role to him. Mr Bean & Pee Wee Herman have declined.

So, then the reverse is true: Daniel Craig should be able to play MLK.
Maybe they can make the next James Bond a gay, black man who is really a soviet spy.

The theater world has long struggled with ideas about casting choices and whether black people can play white characters. Rush is simply catching up. He has every right to want his James Bond to be a Scot. I’m annoyed there is a tv show on now that has Dr. Watson as a GIRL.
I am still waiting for Matt Damon’s stunning portrayal of Malcolm X.
And the liberals went absolutely ballistic when they heard that some Seattle players were saying that their quarterback wasn’t black enough. Oh wait.
How about nobody playing Bond?
I grew up with the first Bond movies and loved them. And while I don’t like his politics, I will admit that Craig did manage to bring a small amount of life back into it.
But really, this story has simply been told enough times. Can’t anybody think of anything new?
Ever been to Scotland? Guess what. Some black people live there. And they have Scottish accents. And if their parents lived there, and their parents parents lived their, are they not Scottish? Do you have to be white to be Scottish?
Rush is right 99.7% of the time. On this he is wrong. And sounds stupid.
