I don’t even think that Roger Moore should’ve been Bond, but that’s a different story. And yes,I do believe it belies everything the character of Bond is about-his whole background which made him who he is-to not have him be someone who could be plausibly Scottish,as written by Fleming,when “Scottish” meant a very particular thing, no matter how overlaid by Royal Navy officer sophistication.
