I was half expecting them to make him a transgendered Black man who goes around the world in the service of “The Queen”.

I agree that the difference between Bond and Mandela is that Bond is a fictional character, so there is more license to improvise. But you also have people suggesting that Jesus was Black or Gay or ____________ [fill in the blank].

At the end of the day, they have to ask themselves what would be the audience for a Black Bond? That is, if you assume they’re actually still in the business to make $$, vs. a statement.
