Mayor de Blasio on Thursday made a final personal appeal to Democratic leaders in hopes of bringing the party’s 2016 convention to Brooklyn.
The mayor spent 90 minutes huddling with party chiefs at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington.
“The reality is we have the safest city in America, we have tremendous enthusiasm for the convention and an outsanding host committee — people who are really ready commit resources and energy to making this a great convention,” de Blasio as he left.
“We think we can provide a really fantastic venue and we think it’s going to have a huge economic impact on the city.”

Safest city in America? You just had two cops gunned down in broad daylight! On the other hand it is the Democrats.... Perfect place for a convention.
After Saturday, that is simply not gonna happen.
The Democrats will see visions of Chicago ‘68 in their heads. They are not going to buy a ticket to get back on that ride.
Wherever they go in going to have to have crowd control dialed in. You just know that de Blasio would let the protesters have their marches and riots, and then be all shocked and surprised when they get out of hand.
I just can’t imagine any idiot from either the Republican or Democratic party....wanting to place a convention in Brooklyn. Hotel costs alone....you can figure at least $350 a night for each single hotel. Toss in crime, getting around via the subway? It’d be plain stupid to do it in Brooklyn.
I hope the Democrats do have their convention there. It would be proof of support for and a direct endorsement of violent protest, murder and lawlessness.
Oh yes - the police will be happy to protect them. Are they bringing Al Sharpton to the convention? I’m sure they’d love to see HIM.
Now that Havanna, Cuba is open for business all bets are off regarding Wilhelm’s Brooklyn.

I do think what has happened this past weekend with the horrible death of those two NYPD officers sealed the decision against DeBlasio.
.....And like 1968, with its riots, ended up giving the White House to the GOP.
I think we should all encourage the DNC to hold their 2016 convention in Brooklyn.
I am sure the NYPD will be happy to provide security for that bunch. /sarcasm

Since he has pushed NYC into near anarchy, I don’t think this is going to happen.
