In the years since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar hung up his playing shoes, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer has collected a host of titles, including filmmaker, author and cultural ambassador.
He’s been a vocal advocate for African-Americans, and this weekend penned an essay for Time Magazine on the shooting deaths of two NYPD officers on Saturday.
Some have linked the shooting to the protests that sprung up after grand juries failed to prosecute the officers who killed Eric Garner and Michael Brown. Abdul-Jabbar disagrees, saying the suggestion the killer was acting in solidarity with the protests is false and a danger to the cause.
“The protests are no more to blame for his actions than The Catcher in the Rye was for the murder of John Lennon or the movie Taxi Driver for the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan,” he writes. “Crazy has its own twisted logic and it is in no way related to the rational cause-and-effect world the rest of us attempt to create.”(continued)

Maybe we just need to embrace that culture and act like they do...and when something happens ya don’t like, pop that brotha and take his shoes. That group has been coddled by the gov for so long, I don’t think they understand how good they have it and how bad it could become.
I drove this guy once if you can believe about 10 years ago when I drove a Yellow cab and he deliberately flooded my taxi with water because I did not kiss his butt properly and fawn all over him. I detest the whole idea of celebrity, just because you make a movie or play a sport doesn’t mean I am going to fawn all over you, I’m going to treat you like any other citizen, with respect but I am not into the fawning deal at all. I only reserve that for the real heroes like the men and women in our military and police. So he gets in the back seat with a liter of Poland Spring water and his assistant gets in the front seat because Kareem is huge. So we’re talking about the weather, the traffic and theres this uncomfortable vibe, like they were expecting me to break out in praise and recognition and I refused to do it. The assistant was staring at me and he was looking right at me the whole time in the rear view mirror. So I dropped them off and this lady gets in and she tells me “Say you know it’s completely flooded back here” and I look in the back. The mofo emptied the entire bottle of water all over the floor. And I KNOW it was not accident because I saw him take the EMPTY bottle out when he left. If you accidentally drop a bottle, the whole thing does not empty out. He did it DELIBERATELY and I had to go to a pizza place, buy a pizza and take 9000 napkins to soak it all up. THAT is Kareem Abdul Jabbar for you who BTW is Muslim isn’t he.
You’re wrong, and the sooner that you reclaim your Christian heritage and dump Allah (whoever he/she is) the better off you will be.
Yeah, so let’s talk about how many whites and Asians are in the NBA.
Institutionalized racism is whatever the hell the race-baiters say it is, doncha know. These poorly-defined terms are the currency and standard of the bullying class, and this is little different from the taunting that every schoolkid either watched or was tormented by in grade school. The bullies are ignorant oafs, and if pressed, have no idea really of what their insults and teasing mean.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has just taken over the position of schoolyard bully.
