A trio of 5-year-olds in Michigan is teaming up to help children with cancer this holiday season by donating their hair.
Ava, Sari and Jenna, all friends who live in the Keego Harbor, Mich. area, went to get their locks chopped for charity without any coaxing from their parents.

I am reminded of the O. Henry story The Gift of the Magi
My wife about the most beautiful hair I’ve ever seen, and does this a couple of times every year. Her hair grows very long like crazy.
She usually keeps it well over halfway down her back, and it’s very thick. She donates about 2 feet of it to this cause every six months or so.
Yes.
The picture of them is wonderful - oh, to be a 5 yr old at Christmastime!
Cheers to your wife!
Sweet little things! My daughter gives to “Locks of Love” every now and then.
Awesome little girls.
I can’t donate my hair as it all fell out years ago.
I would look into their accounting of what is done with all the hair donations. I think only about 300 wigs are made a year and they get over 100,000 donations. If someone truly has great hair it might be better to sell it to a wig maker and donate the money directly to a charity.
Wonderful! What a personal gift of hope and love!
I just found this from 2013 Forbes. Hate to see that 80% of the hair is not usable.
Tell her I said thank you, indirectly. I know the ones who get her hair would say that, so I’ll say it for them. I’ve lost my hair once already, it was traumatic for me, but I got a wig and wore it. Now soon I will lose it again. And I’ll get another wig (and then I’ll have two!)
She sounds like a wonderful woman.
Good to know there are other charities that provide this service, as well (as named in the article).
Thanks for the info. I know many women and young girls who donate hair to Locks of Love. They would not be happy if their hair were not being used as intended.
Prayers for your good health....I second the thanks to KoRn’s wife ...... My sister was presented such a gift when she went through chemotherapy !
Merry Christmas......stay safe !
Nice story but it is unnecessary... the wigmakers buy from Asia ,, they want the long straight black hair ,, they can bleach and dye it any color and they pay almost nothing for it..
thank you!
I am confused. What do you mean by “nice story but it is unnecessary?
Thank you! I personally need some good health more than you know!
A Merry Christmas to you too!
I wish you the very best, and I will send along your kind regards! (she'd be happy to hear of people benefiting from her contributions)
She's a NP, so she sees every day what people go through when it comes to hair loss from the 'poison' used to treat many Cancers. It is indeed very traumatic.
