An officer for the Cleburne Police Department shown on video shooting and killing a dog in August was justified in taking that action, an independent investigator hired by the department found.
Officer Kevin Dupre was placed on paid administrative leave after video of the Aug. 10 shooting surfaced in October, according to NBC 5. City officials brought in Alan Patton, a retired police sergeant who did not serve in Cleburne, to conduct an independent investigation.

Wait a minute - did he shoot the dog? Did he kill the dog? Then he wasn’t “cleared” of “shooting and killing” the dog.
Feared the pooch so much he made kissing noises... if this is the same critter.
Lured the dog and shot it... and as for the person who complained about a dog, was that person even present to identify what dog it was?
Paws up don’t shoot
I will predict...sooner or later....as some cop does this and the family dog is laying there...some twelve-year-old kid will react...pick up the family shotgun and try to take down the cop. It’s only a matter of time, and you’d think that the cops would be sitting there and realizing the mess they are inviting the public to react to.
Loss of integrity has already started to take a toll in allowing otherwise wacky stories like Mike Brown’s to get legs. But they don’t want to see the connection.
If an owner allows his Pit Bulls to run loose they should be shot on sight...and then the dogs should be shot.
Furry Lives Matter!
Go check You Tube to see umpteen videos of pitbull dogs cavorting harmlessly with cats and kittens.
If a dog is viciously attacking people that’s one thing. Guarding its own yard might be another.

I have no problem with people owning Pit Bull, just don’t let them run loose. The kill and maim more people than all other dogs combined.
If you let them run loose, you are a reckless dog owner and you will be responsible if someone kills your dogs.
Its legal here in Michigan to kill a dog chasing deer, livestock etc but police don’t encourage it. Both of which can be prevented by not letting dogs run loose.
Sounds like the police had already been called about the dogs.
Agree, they were running loose and it sounds had been called to the area about them.
Even the owners have accepted the verdict and probably because they know themselves were wrong.
Oh phooey. Where did you get your data. /dev/rear?
The stinking thing sounds like the occifer CALLED THE DOG OVER. Hey you dog that is threatening me. You aren’t close enough.
If the LEOs killed you dogs in your enclosed back yard, 99% the LEOs are wrong. However, if the LEOs kill your pit bull dog in community areas, I will side with the Leos.
control Your Pit Bulls.
When I talked to the state police over the back fence a few weeks back. I called my dogs over to introduce them and explain that they bark but won’t bite.
Okay when do all the dogs in the USA start burning and looting?..............
IIRC, this involved a call for help to the police because dogs had people pinned in a car.
Scaly lives matter!!............
