The head of the NAACP said it is not fair for the leader of a prominent police union and former Gov. George Pataki (R-N.Y.) to blame Democratic politicians for the deaths of two New York City police officers.
I dont believe its fair to link the criminal insanity of a lone gunman to the peaceful protest and aspirations of many people across the country, including the attorney general, the mayor, and the president is simply not fair, Cornell William Brooks, the president of the NAACP, told CBS's Face the Nation.
Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were shot and killed Saturday afternoon while sitting in their patrol car by a man who posted messages to his social media accounts described by New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton as very anti-police.
Images of an Instagram account believed to belong to the suspect, 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Brinsley, said he planned to undertake the killing as revenge for the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, two unarmed black men who were killed in confrontations with white police officers. In both cases, grand juries declined to bring charges, sparking protests across the country.
Those revelations led some to charge that Democratic politicians who had been critical of police tactics and supportive of the protests were responsible for the killing.
"There's blood on many hands tonight. That blood on the hands starts at City Hall in the office of the mayor, Pat Lynch, the president of the largest police union in New York City the Patrolmens Benevolent Association said at a press conference.
In a tweet, Pataki said the deaths were the predictable outcome of divisive anti-cop rhetoric from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.
While Brooks argued the shootings should not be attributed to those pushing for change following the deaths of Brown and Garner, he acknowledged they were certainly not a step forward toward that goal.
We have a violence problem, and the policies were pushing forward protect not only the public, but police officers, and the families they hope to go home to at the end of the day, Brooks said.
I do. Life is not fair, you whiner. AND the Democrats have set this exact scenario up to happen. Should own it.
0bama was wrong about Henry Gates he was wrong about Trayvon Martin and he was wrong about Michael Brown. Race had nothing to do with any of those incidents and even the Garner family doesn't believe race had anything to do with Eric Garner's arrest and death.
0bama is the driving force behind using four incidents with no racial components to reopen and inflame a racial divide in this country like nothing that has existed before.
they didn’t have a problem blaming sarah palin for that gabby whatsherface person, and she was halfway across the world at the time — not politicians in charge of the same city that is exploding
I happened to see this idiot’s interview.
I blame the demonic-rats.
Heh.
As Rudy Giuliani said yesterday, “For four months starting with the President, the like of Al Sharpton, Eric Holder and Bill De Blasio have done nothing but promote hatred of the police and this is the result.”
Well said Rudy.
They sure weren’t reticent about trying to hang Gabby Giffords around Sarah Palin’s neck.
I think it it eminently fair to link them. They are inextricably linked. And by the way you tried to link Palin to a democRAT shooting democRAT Giffords.
It’s clear that this is exactly what you wanted and not that the chickens have come home to roost you’re not liking it.
eff these idiots. They all jumped the bandwagon in an attempt to blame a certain ex VP candidate for the shooting of a Congresswoman. rant off.
Give Al Sharpton, The Obamanation, and Eric Holder an assist for these killings.
Sorry, NAACP + Dems: you own this one 100%.
CC
This coming from one of the most notoriously racist organizations in the USA.
why not the shooter was obviously a democrat
Why not? It’s easy to blame criminals for everything. BTW what was Brinsley’s voting record?
Relax Mr. Brooks, we blame your buddy Al Sharpton equally.
Freep you. We blame you.
I’ve been waiting all day to hear what the NAACP had to say about this incident.
It’s opinion is really important to me. /s
.
You get to wear the blame like a burning tire all the same, d-baggers!!!
