It was just last night that a handful of supporters of the New York Police Department attempted to hold a #ThankYouNYPD rally. The group was easily outnumbered by protesters, who taunted them and likened the gathering to a Klan rally. Just days before that, police haters hijacked a #BlueLivesMatter hashtag, while others were caught on video at the #MillionsMarchNYC chanting, What do we want? Dead cops!

I remember commenting here on FR that every time a cop puts on the uniform he or she is a target for the entire time. And some here scoffed at that idea. I wonder if they think that way now. My son is a cop. His department requires him to be armed, even off duty. He can either carry concealed or open but if he carries open, his badge must be showing.
He does not open carry while off duty, he says that badge showing is like a target.
A lot of them seem to be right here.
As Joseph Kenda (subject of the show Homicide Hunter) says, people love firemen. They hate cops. They shoot at cops.
Most people only encounter cops for speeding tickets or something else that messes with their pleasant day. From that to hating cops, though, is quite a stretch.
Agreed that a lot of this comes from the sixties. Young people were encouraged to hate cops by leftist professors.
Yup. When I read their posts I can just hear their inner 16-year-old saying, "Don't harsh my buzz, pig!"
