On Thursdays Hugh Hewitt radio show, conservative commentator Mark Steyn, author of The Undocumented Mark Steyn, said the actions by Sony Corporation not to face down apparent threats from North Koreans was a bad sign for the so-called power of American pop culture in its current state.

Yep...I agree with you....NK is China’s proxy
Romney said to release it on line for free, that ought to really tick em off

An on line release is the way to go if you don’t want to kowtow ... stick it in the Norks eye. However, I heard last night that if it does not get released, Sony has insurance that will pay. If it’s released online, Sony loses money because it’s not going to theater distribution AND the insurance won’t pay.
I’d say, “Let the porno folks handle it. They would do anything to keep communicating their smut.”
Can you imagine the legal liability for injury and/or death at a theater showing the movie?
“You KNEW there was danger of a terrorist attack, but you released the film anyway!”
No way to know.
A real President would have parked a boomer off the coast of North Korea and let the North Koreans know that if any movie theater was damaged or if there were anymore hackings North Korea would cease to exist.
This action would send a strong message to other bad actors.
that is my exact point - sony had very little options here. they could chose to ignore the threat, and if something happened be ruined, or if nothing happened lose tons of money because nobody would go, or they could run something else and have a chance of making something
I hadn’t seen that promo. It’s very well done.
Danish cartoon artist: 50 sq meter apartment. Probably rides his bike for transportation. Living in a dank, gray country being over run by Muslims.
Sony executive: 6,000 sq ft house in the Hollywood Hills, driver driven cars every where, fine food, parties, prestige.
One word: lawyers. If Sony showed this flick and one person in one theater fell on the way to his seat, he’d sue Sony and probably win in today’s court system. Imagine the financial ruin to Sony if just one nutjob shot-up a theater showing this flick. It’s terrible but our system supports terrorists financially. Look at the trial of the Tsarnaev guy. The trial may last years, cost the US millions of dollars, and end in an acquittal.
Thank you. blush!
Volunteers come out of the woodwork to help me.
Uh, Al Qaeda was attacking us before 9/11. North Korea has not blown any Americans up lately.
