This is a travesty. Punish a man who succeeds at punishing a criminal. Things will get worse from here on in.

I don’t believe you can set traps for people and then claim self defense when they take the bait!

It’s illegal to set a trap like that with the intent to kill or injure. That’s what it looks like he did and it was fully baited. You can’t rig a shotgun to fire if the door opens and then lock the door so they can only enter by breaking and entering.

People who defend psycho killers, have some weird problems themselves, but we do see it over and over on threads like this.

It was a ‘baited’ episode. I can’t understand his logic or thinking...but if you look over all the evidence....he just wanted someone to cross the line and he was going to shoot them. The guy, in my humble opinion...is some kind of nutcase.

Sentence the Jury to the maximum punishment for a violation of rights.

Sorry, this was an obvious trap and the killing was murder. Would you support Police that setup this kind of trap?

Home protection is sacred but setting bait is trap fishing.

Correct conviction. The kid was a punk, but the shooter set out to kill him. Not remotely self defense.

I’m surprised it wasn’t 1st degree murder.

They also heard hair stylist Tanya Colby, who testified that Kaarma told her during a haircut: "I've been up three nights with a shotgun waiting to kill some kids." She said he later told her, "I'm not kidding, you're seriously going to see this on the news."

I don't believe that sticking up for premeditated murderers is a value many conservatives are going to share with you. Maybe you can visit this poor innocent Kaarma in prison. I doubt he'll have many who are sympathetic to his plight beyond you....

Show me where Kaarma had reason to “fear for his life” and I will support the “Stand your ground” defense. I certainly understand his frustration, but rigging his garage to hold the perp(s) until the police arrive would have been a more reasonable action.

While I’m all for blasting away home invaders, etc. I think you’re on very weak moral ground here.

This person should is guilty as hell. First off setting a trap is bogus, second what if it had been a small child that had wandered in to his garage, would you morons being still supporting him for murder.

You have to use reasonable force, not over react.

"Stand your ground defense fails.."

Looks like the AP has corrected the headline and the story to reflect that it is not a "Stand Your Ground" case at all. Good for them. It's about time they stopped being stupid.

It does seem like a set up, morally and criminally wrong, as far as how the story is written (and obviously how the jury found the evidence).

While searching some info on Diren, it interested me that his mother is from Turkey and they appear to be Islamic. Here is a pic of his father in grief over the coffin:
