((HUGS))Good morning, Kathy. How's it going?
BTTT
Good morning, Acad1228. How's it going?
After a friendly orange tomcat that was much like “Fat Freddy’s Cat”. Still miss him and his running buddy.
My parents put it on my birth certificate and I just left out the space.
I have since gotten more “out and proud” about my Conservative opinions . . . but when I first moved to California, I really had to keep my head down and my mouth shut to keep from provoking all the libs and “green” activists it seemed I ran into all the time. I felt I was being a “fake” Green to avoid controversy. When I first joined FR, that was heavy on my mind, so I wanted to work that concept in. For some reason Hetty Green, the Witch of Wall St., popped into my head, and then that became Hetty Fauxvert — or “fake green” — and here I am.
BTW, thank you so much, fellow Freepers, for helping me get over my aversion to controversy. My lib friends know exactly what I think these days! LOL!
Don’t have a cool story for mine.
My head is so big, I duck walking into my house. My hats, fear me. Those giant heads used in parades? It’s racist, or size-ist to make fun of me. I once won a biggest pumkin competition when I forgot to take off my hunting stretch cap. I have my own gravity, complete with atmosphere, and clouds fogging up my vision. Think lightning here. I do like it when I go into an eclipse, though. People take pictures. I end up on National Geographic covers superimposed over the landscape. When I see those big columns on campus, I wanna make like a bowling ball and roll at ‘em.
Then some prick names a character on a TV show, “Third Rock From the Sun” which I thought was a joke about me, after me. So I took it.
I was also a lurker for many years. I mulled over the actual signing up on that internet thingy but the lure of posting a comment was too strong. I thought my Freeper name was goofy but it explains how “lucky” I was to be born in America and not in Cuba.
I enlisted in the US Air force at the age of 17 and my duty was Ballistic Missile Analyst Technician on a Missile Combat Crew (launch crew) for the Titan II ICBM weapon system.
After six years I went into the reserves and took two years to finish my degrees in Electrical Engineering and one in Meteorology and from there I earned my commission and went back on Missile Combat Crew in the Minuteman II/CDB weapon system where I spent my four year controlled tour.
From there I then became a Missile Maintenance Officer and was in charge of a group of young men who maintained those same missiles before I went on to do work in the nuclear weapons arena.
My entire life was spent fighting the Cold War and in the missile career field so my moniker is the only thing I could think of.
There’s always at least one brat in the group! LOL!
Good to see you Radu! Hope to see you more often! (((hugs)))
Elvis Shaka Zulu was taken so I used my given name.
Great idea for a thread.
I lurked here for three months in the Fall of 1998 before signing up at the end of December.
It seemed very intimidating back then to post publicly.
I even attended the March for Justice in October, 1998 in DC.
My name comes the exit on the Garden State Parkway in NJ where I used to live—Exit 82—Toms River.
It’s a Jersey thing. When folks ask you where you are from, they ask “What exit?”, exits being those on either the Garden State Parkway or the NJ Turnpike.
My last white Christmas was 1999. But even in Ohio we didn’t always get snow in December.
