Growing divide among Senate Republicans on spending bill?
FOX News ^ | December 13, 2014

WASHINGTON – Republican aren’t mincing words about some in their own party as the political divide grows and the deadline to pass a spending bill nears.

Heading into a rare Saturday session, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told Fox News he was surprised that GOP Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah went over his head Friday night and help up a vote on the $1.1 trillion spending bill.

A senior GOP source lashed out at Cruz and Lee, calling the move “hamfisted” and “amateurish.”

Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters that he was surprised by Cruz and Lee.

On Friday night, the two Republican lawmakers demanded a vote on a proposal to cut funds from the bill that could be used to implement President Obama's new immigration policy, ending any chance the measure could clear the Senate and be sent to the White House with a minimum of fuss.

Officials in both parties said the bill remains on track for clearance by early next week. Even so, the move led Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to abandon plans to adjourn the Senate for the weekend, and raised the possibility of a test vote on the spending bill shortly after midnight on Saturday.

I really see no way in which I can vote republican again.

And since I”ll NEVER vote democrat, guess I’m out of the voting picture until conservatives take over.

Sorry, but holding my nose and voting for a RINO just slightly delays the inevatable CW-II.

May as well wait and watch the upcoming carnage.

If they worked 1/10th as hard against Democrats as they do against the Tea Party, we would see progress.

...

The GOPe would rather lose and let the Democrats grow the government than to have a conservative win and bring the government under control.

Hate to say this, but I think this controversy is all staged theater. In the end, the bill will pass.

I want to believe Cruz, and Lee are the real deal, but I can’t fight the cynical side of me that thinks this is all brinksmanship theater. Wait until the very last minute, just as panic sets in to provide cover from the fallout.

” The GOPe would rather lose and let the Democrats grow the government than to have a conservative win and bring the government under control.”

Of course. See Romney, see McCain

If the GOPe is in the minority, they still get half the pork, with no political pressure.

If what Senators Cruz and Lee did is within the rules of the Senate, then sit down and shut up, Mr. McConnell, Mr. Reid, et al. McConnell is having dry heaves because his leadership is being challenged by some in his own party.

==

Ole Senator Byrd KNEW those Senate rules backward and forward.

Byrd stopped an early attempt at amnesty on a technicality in 2002 during GWB’s first term.

I don't have the words, but Boehner has pulled off perhaps the most underhanded betrayals of Republicans in History. As others have noted, no sooner did the Republicans achieve victory, that he couldn't wait to give the Democrats everything they wanted. He's from the Trent Lott wing of the Republican Party.

I remember an interview he had, it is seared in my memory, wherein he was weeping about what a great country this is and how he wanted to give the best future possible for the children. Now we know exactly which children he was concerned about. ILLEGAL ALIEN CHILDREN - SCREW AMERICAN CHILDREN. Right Boehner?

Congressman Stutzman has openly called Boehner a liar for assuring him that the Crimnebus bill would be pulled after the "rule" passed. How does Stutzman feel now, knowing that with premeditation and calculated cynicism, Boehner casually threw away Stutzman's career, just as the Democrats threw away the career of Judith Margolis Mezvinsk during the Clinton crime spree. Here's hoping that things get so furballed up that Stutzman, and perhaps other "conservatives" get a do over and will promptly throw Boehner and his Obama boot licking shenanigans in history's trash can.

So I guess Senator Cruz, Senator Lee, and Senator Session should just roll over and not do anything, right?

So do you agree with this bill passing?

So do you agree that this is ham-fisted and amaturistic?

I, for one, want my congressmen, my Senators to fight to the last procedure against what is wrong.

Well, I’m an old grouch. I see nothing funny about it.

It’s all staged to make us think there are some members of Congress who actually care about us, but they only care about themselves. In this case, they’re all so eager to get out of Washington for the holidays, they’d pass a ham sandwich.

We elected our representatives to represent us, not to be actors in some mediocre play.

Every step of the way Senator Cruz has been out in front of this issue.

Just because you weren't paying attention, doesn't make it brinkmanship on his part.
