The National Labor Relations Board issued a final rule on Friday aimed at modernizing and streamlining the union election process.
The new rule will shorten the time between when an election is ordered and the election is held, eliminating a previous 25-day waiting period. And it seeks to reduce litigation that can be used to stall elections. It will also require employers to furnish union organizers with email addresses and phone numbers of workers. [ ]
AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said the NLRBs modest but important reforms will help reduce delays and make it easier for workers to vote on forming a union.

Card Check by the back door. You knew this was coming. If the Dems don’t do something they’ll be splitting off to form their own Labo(u)r Party soon.
Unions are dying. I guess they need all the help they can get.
I’d be mighty pissed off if I worked in a non-union shop and some NLRB goon gave my email address to the union.
The Obama Administration has to do what it can to ‘make up’ with Big Labor, and this is a oft wished-for goal of theirs. Since the Labor Unions could not squeeze through ‘Card Check’, this is the next best thing. It will be interesting to see if this passes legal challenge which is bound to come.
I, as a private individual, work at a place that a union wishes to organize. I have a legal right to choose to participate with the union but EQUALLY I have the corresponding right to not participate. If I choose the latter, can the NLRB, as an arm of the Federal Government, violate my 4th Amendment rights to be secure in my person and home (privacy!)
Perhaps a few lawsuits would be in order on the commencement of this practice.
people are being moved to self directing 401k’s
unions want to control pensions.
no pension no union.
self determination no union.
The turnover of addresses is to give them to the union politicians.
Of course, that is exactly what the unions don't want. They want unfettered access. And all that "unfettered" implies.
If there ever is an article V constitutional convention one of the amendment must be that any rule proposed by a federal agency must be approved by Congress.
Legislation by bureaucrats must end.
Give dummy addresses and phone numbers...............
Either that or the unconstitutionality of such unaccountable federal agencies (which are part of FDR’s assault on the Constitution, FTR) is codified.
While I do agree that far too many Republicans seem to be RINO’s, this is a good illustration of why even a RINO like Romney would have been MILES ahead of Obummer, in my opinion. Sigh....
You think Romney would have stopped this?
Actually, I do.
However, I doubt that Romney would have done much to Obama-care except change its nickname--to RomneyCare.
How would Romney have stopped the NLRB from doing this? never mind why?
Abolish the NLRB.
Stop backdoor card check.
He probably wouldn’t have nominated a union goon to head the NLRB; someone that at least understand how franchises work.
Reducing that 25 day waiting period, makes it a lot harder for businesses to make their case to their employees.
It takes time to develop a clear and concise policy, and present it to employees so they can understand why joining the union might not be the great idea they thought it would be.
Once the presentation is made, the employees need a cooling off period to weigh the issues and make a determination for themselves.
This will make it easy for unions to railroad businesses.
I don’t think this is reasoned at all. Neither do they. They just want unions to flourish, and that’s all that matters.
I have a family member who is a nurse. The Purple People Beaters are working double-overtime to try and organize her hospital. She has already had to shoo them away from her door several times. This is just going to make her life an absolute living hell.
The UAW has a lot of nurses on their roster.
I suspect at some point in the future there will be more nurses than auto workers.
