GreenPeace extremists have gone to great lengths to harass whaling vessels with rubber rafts and chain themselves to trees in the rain forest in order to protest what they consider to be the destruction of the planet, they don’t seem to mind personally destroying cultural treasures.

GlobalPost.com reports that on Wednesday Greenpeace apologized to the Peruvian government for vandalizing and damaging one of the country’s cultural treasures in a campaign to fight Global Warming junk science:
“Environmental group Greenpeace apologized Wednesday after Peru accused it of damaging a millenia-old archaeological site when its activists displayed a protest banner there calling for action on climate change.
“The stunt at the ancient Nazca lines, enormous drawings etched in the earth some 2,000 years ago by a pre-Inca civilization, drew a furious reaction from Peru, which is currently hosting UN talks aimed at curbing global warming.
“Greenpeace set up large letters beside one of the designs, known as the Hummingbird, reading: “Time for change! The future is renewable.”
Peruvian officials considered Greenpeace’s actions as an “attack.” They asked for help in apprehending those individuals who damaged the historical site:
“Describing the action as an “attack,” the Peruvian government said the site had been damaged and vowed to prosecute those responsible.
“
After the illegal, premeditated action by environmental defense group Greenpeace, the zone has been seriously affected,” the culture ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
It called on Peruvians to “collaborate in identifying the people who carried out this attack on the cultural heritage of all Peruvians and all humanity” and said those responsible must be “stopped from leaving the country.“
Needless to say, the Peruvian government has rejected the apology.
They’re not gonna like eight years in a Peruvian jail...
One wonders how the Greenpeace activists managed to get to one of the most remote and inhospitable places on earth. I’m willing to bet my house they didn’t use “renewables.”
They should go full Inca on them.
No problemo. The sierra club and a bunch of others like elf and alf will simply apply for govt grants (our tax dollars) and buy their way out of it. After all, they’re special and since it’s really all about saving the planet, they’re intentions are what’s of upper most importante.

The impact of their footprints on the fragile desert site, in fact, will last “hundreds or thousands of years,” according to outraged Peruvian officials.
So furious is the Peruvian government that it has barred the Greenpeace activists from leaving the country and is preparing criminal charges for “attacking archeological monuments,” punishable by up to eight years in prison.
On Tuesday, culture ministry officials showed reporters aerial photographs of the damage, and said that when the Greenpeace trespassers snuck into the U.N. World Heritage site in the middle of the night, they marched single-file across the delicate volcanic rocks and white sand, leaving a path that has introduced a new line to the iconic Hummingbird-shaped figure.
The damage is “irreversible,” Peruvian officials say, explaining that the rainless desert landscape is so delicate that visitors are required to obtain government permission and use special shoes to approach the site.
“What they have done is an attack on a site that is one of the most fragile in the world,” cultural official Luis Jaime Castillo told reporters Tuesday.

I have translated and read the ancient texts. The best way to stop global warming is to build a stone alter and rip out the Greenpeace activists still beating hearts with a stone knife and eat part of it and sacrifice the rest to the God of Global Warming (Xhanzxahunza, which translates to gimme grant money).
It worked for centuries until the Spanish stopped the practice.
