In the aftermath of the violent riots that broke out following a grand jurys decision not to indict white police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of black teenager Michael Brown, storeowners in the small St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Mo., say theyre almost as angry at their state government as they are with the looters who vandalized, robbed, and destroyed their stores. [ ]
We havent received one call from the state or the governors office at allnot one, said Kurt Barks, owner of Complete Auto Body and Repair in Ferguson, one of dozens of businesses that were trashed and robbed in the hours following the grand jurys decision.
Another store owner, Nigerian immigrant Idowu Ajibola, told CNSNews.com, This is ground zero. This is where the first violence happened. I would have assumed, I would have thought it would have been the first place they would have tried to protect.
But the government, they werent there for us, he said. They werent there for us at allnot the first time around, not the second time around, even after they promised that they would.

The gov’t isn’t there for YOU, stupid, the gov’t is there for THEMSELVES and any one else they can use to accrue more power to THEMSELVES. YOU pick up the tab for it all, Jackass.
You mean Elizabeth Wareen did no tprotect you form the marauding hordes!?
You mean Elizabeth Warren may have even organized the marauding hordes!?
Shocking.
Be sure to pay your taxes, because you didn’t build that!
You are just a bunch of greedy capitalists who deserved to get looted and burned out.
Obammy was there for the looters.
I do sympathize with these folks to a point...they chose in most cases, to depend on the government for security...a quote from Ben Franklin comes to mind.
Welcome to the “brave new world” comrades...you see, your interests were in conflict with the interests of the power brokers in DC....
So sad, too bad.
Now you are getting a life’s lesson in freedom and independence. I’ll bet a doughnut that if you had been on your rooftops or even in front of your stores armed to the teeth and prepared to defend what is yours, the situation would have been much different. As was evidenced by other business owners who did so.
The first line of the government was the police who were under attack by citizens of Ferguson and the federal government. Blame Obama, and the screwball thinking that makes blacks think they should be able to get away with criminal behavior.
No, but they’ll be there to finish the job for the looters of kicking your ass, killing your business and ruining any future chances of you ever owning another business again
It’s sickening — all government cared for was appeasing the rioters, and that meant they couldn’t be out there warding them off from the businesses and homes of innocents.
Well, situations like this put meaning into self defense.
Oath Keepers were brought in to defend the stores but the government told them to leave.
This guy should either (a) put his hands up (b) complain that he can’t breathe (c) lie down as if dead or (d) riot. Those are the only logical options in the age of Clown Prince nobama and his criminal minions.
But the government, they werent there for us, he said. They werent there for us at allnot the first time around, not the second time around, even after they promised that they would.

The same whiney BS we heard after Katrina.
That being true, we all need to remember - Ferguson is Obama’s Katrina.
It would be a clever T-shirt design showing Barack as the skunk in the middle of the road emitting fumes and all around complaining “I can’t breathe.”
I agree, it is sickening that given the capabilities of LE and the NG, that the losses are as great as they are.
Has the MO governor ever come clean on why the NG wasn’t deployed?
I do believe in defending my own and am prepared to do so...I have learned that one CANNOT and SHOULD NOT depend on any gov’t entity to do that.
This was a straightforward policing situation, however.
HAH! Can you imagine THIS group whining about how the government was there to protect them?
Neither can I.
I thought there were some conflicting reports about that...
1. They were told they didn’t have licenses and to git.
2. They told the gov’t to get bent.
I kinda lost track of how all that turned out...but I do recall seeing pics of locals taking up arms and defending themselves against the hordes of barbarians roaming the streets.
If any of these “protests” “spill out” into other neighborhoods,
the residents will likely form their own little protection squads.
Of course, the gov’t would then come down on THEM instead of on the criminals.
ping to a pic of the locals I was mentioning
Thanks R2
I know that there were many innocent shop owners who endured destruction yet again.
But, the lede quote sounds more like the part of the culture that believes they can “safely” destroy businesses in a show of anger because, no problem, the government will come in a clean everything up - no loss to anyone. Would those particular shop keepers who have the attitude that the gov. will ensure a 100% cost free “reset” for them have objected more strenuously in their own communities to the looting vandalism, or supported some kind of enforcement effort even if it was civilian?
I’m thinking about my sister’s neighbor who, when he noticed that the tree in her yard was about to fall over, asked eagerly what the deductible on her homeowners ensurance was because maybe he’d just leave his car parked in the path of the falling tree if her deductible was low....
